Equinor reported that the exploration well 30/4-4 in the North Sea has run dry, according to the Norwegian oil resources regulator, Norwegian Offshore Directorate.
The well was located about seven kilometers north of the Linge Field in the North Sea, and 180 kilometers west of Bergen, Norway.
The Transocean Spitsbergen rig drilled the exploratory well, which unfortunately turned out to be dry.

Oil Exploration in the North Sea
Equinor’s partners in the license are Petoro (30%) and Sval Energi (19%).
The primary exploration objective of the well was to prove oil in sandstone in the Hermod Member in the Paleocene.
The well encountered 114 meters of Hermod sandstones with very good reservoir quality. It was drilled to a vertical depth of 2,135 meters below sea level and terminated in Cenozoic shale. The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned.
