New incentive from the government of ES attracts more than 400 companies and new investments in the renewable energy sector in the region, generating jobs and income for the population

According to the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (ABSOLUTE), ES is in 18th place among the 27 states that produce the most solar energy. The latest records for this year show that 105,2 MW were produced in the state. More than 400 companies see ES as fertile ground for investing in renewable energies, which, in addition to sustainability, bring jobs and income to the population.

ES gains prominence in investments in the solar energy sector

Among the renewable energies that are most invested in and generate most jobs in the state of ES is solar energy, which last month reached 8.088 operational connections on small plots of land and roofs in 78 municipalities, according to Absolar. Currently, there are around 9.185 consumers of electricity generated from this source.

According to Vitor Romero, coordinator of Absolar in ES, with solar energy at this level in the state, investments of more than R$ 27 million have been applied since 2012, in addition to 3,1 thousand jobs generated and about R$ 137 million raised in public coffers, demonstrating the potential of this source of energy.

ES Government strategy to generate investments in renewable energies generates results

To encourage investments in renewable energy in the state, the government launched the Gerar program in April this year, which grants tax benefits to companies that use renewable sources, such as solar energy and wind energy.

According to Espírito Santo's Secretary of Innovation and Development, Tyago Hoffmann, the program's mission is to encourage the use of renewable energies and generate several jobs.

With the incentive, this year alone, more than 400 companies have already approached the ES government to find out more about the program. Among the benefits given to companies are exemption from ICMS.

Wind energy makes strides in ES

There is little data on the exploitation of wind energy in Espírito Santo, however experts say that ES has potential for this type of source.

According to the Espírito Santo Wind Atlas, prepared by the Regulatory Services Agency in 2009, the potential of the wind source in the state reached 10,5 megawatts of installed power.

Also according to the Atlas, the regions that have greater power are divided into two: The South Coast and the Coast of Linhares, where the best potential is in the range of the municipalities of Marataízes and Presidente Kennedy.
