Bahia topped the ranking for wind energy generation in Brazil in the first half of this year, reaching 32.4%. With all this potential, new investments are expected to emerge in the state and various companies are eyeing the construction of more projects in the region, generating many direct and indirect jobs.

The construction of the four wind farms Ventos de Santa Diana, Santa Luzia, Santo Adalberto, and São Carlos, located in the cities of Jacobina, Ibitiara, Mirangaba, and Campo Formoso, respectively, will generate 9,280 jobs at peak production in Bahia.

The construction of the wind complex will have a significant impact on Bahia, especially in the municipalities where the projects will be installed, generating more jobs and income for the population, according to the Secretary of Economic Development and Vice Governor, João Leão.

According to Clécio Eloy, the director of Casa dos Ventos Energias Renováveis, civil construction will be the sector that will need the most labor during this initial installation phase. Following that, professionals in safety, environment, quality, assemblers, and electricians will be in demand, according to the executive.

It is estimated that with the implementation of this complex, energy production will reach 6.6 Terawatt hours per year. The 172 wind farms operating in 20 municipalities in Bahia were responsible for creating 46,400 jobs during the construction phase, with investments amounting to R$ 16.7 billion.

According to Correio, recruitment and selection are conducted by Sine Bahia, an agency that registers, advertises job vacancies, and consolidates hiring, while the outsourced company selects professionals. In the upcoming months, hiring will be focused on the civil construction sector.

There is also land leasing, which is an important supplemental income for families, in addition to the direct and indirect jobs generated. The average cost per wind turbine is R$ 2,000, and the land remains available for the owner to plant, cultivate, and engage in agriculture and livestock activities.
