Duplication of PR-092, With 47% of the Works Already Completed, Promises to Revolutionize Traffic in Almirante Tamandaré! The Overpass at the PR-509 Interchange is Almost Ready, and the New Infrastructure, With Rigid Concrete Pavement, Promises Greater Durability. The Project Also Includes Bike Lanes, Walkways, and More Safety for Drivers and Pedestrians.
The modernization of road infrastructure is one of the main challenges faced by Brazilian states, and Paraná has been heavily investing in this area.
One of the most anticipated projects by drivers in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba is becoming a reality: the duplication of the Rodovia dos Minérios (PR-092).
With an innovative approach, the project uses concrete pavement, a material that promises greater durability compared to traditional asphalt.

Project Already Reaches 47% Completion
According to information from the Department of Highways of Paraná (DER/PR), linked to the Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics (SEIL), the concrete duplication of the Rodovia dos Minérios reached 47.11% completion in February 2025.
This milestone represents a significant advancement in the execution of the works, which encompass earthworks, paving, drainage, and the installation of new safety devices.
The main highlight of the project is the overpass being constructed at the interchange of the Rodovia dos Minérios with the Rodovia do Calcário (PR-509).
Currently, the structure is 67.87% completed, while the containment devices have already reached 70% completion.
The overpass, of the Diamond type, will allow for a more organized flow, with access and exits via the right lane and the implementation of two roundabouts to regulate local traffic.
Benefits of Concrete Pavement
The choice of rigid concrete pavement was not random. This material has a durability at least twice that of regular asphalt, ensuring less maintenance is needed over the years.
In addition, it offers greater resistance to heavy loads, an essential factor for highways with heavy truck traffic, as is the case of PR-092.
Another benefit of concrete is its greater grip in adverse weather conditions, reducing the risk of accidents on rainy days.
This factor becomes even more relevant considering that the Rodovia dos Minérios is one of the main logistics corridors in the region, facilitating the flow of inputs and products.
Expanding Infrastructure
In addition to the duplication of the main lane, the project also includes the implementation of marginal lanes, which will facilitate access to businesses and residences along the stretch.
According to the DER/PR, more than 50% of the earthworks have already been completed, allowing progress in the subsequent stages.
The project also includes the installation of stormwater drainage devices, with the cellular galleries already finished. Another significant improvement is the new road lighting, which will contribute to greater safety in nighttime traffic.
The infrastructure will be complemented by a new pedestrian walkway, bike lanes, and sidewalks, ensuring mobility and safety for different types of road users.
Additionally, the project foresees the implementation of new horizontal and vertical signage, promoting better guidance for drivers.
Next Phase: Expansion to Jardim Areias
In parallel to the ongoing work, the DER/PR is already planning the expansion of the duplication of PR-092 to the locality of Jardim Areias, located in the municipality of Almirante Tamandaré.
At the end of February 2025, a public hearing was held to present the project for the new phase, which will cover a longer stretch and include the construction of 13 new overpasses.
The next step will be the publication of the bidding notice, a fundamental procedure to continue the project.
With this expansion, the expectation is that the road infrastructure of the region will be significantly improved, promoting smoother traffic flow and enhancing safety for drivers and pedestrians.
Economic and Social Impact
In addition to improving mobility and reducing congestion, the duplication of the Rodovia dos Minérios represents an important economic boost for the region.
The modernization of the stretch will facilitate the transport of goods, benefiting sectors such as industry, agriculture, and mining, which rely on good logistical conditions to market their products.
The project also generates direct and indirect jobs, stimulating the local economy and contributing to regional development.
With the completion of the works, the expectation is that new investments will be attracted to the area, further boosting economic growth.
