The Naval Pole of the Port Industrial Complex of Suape delivered another ship built in Pernambuco. Governor Paulo Câmara and the president of Suape, Marcos Baptista, attended the delivery ceremony of the ship Skandi Recife on Friday afternoon (4/27) at the Vard Promar Shipyard, the highest value-added vessel ever built in Brazil with advanced technology and constructed by 1,100 workers from Pernambuco at the shipyard.
The ship, a PLSV (Pipe Laying Support Vessel), received R$ 1 billion in investments. The vessel features cutting-edge technology and high precision, along with a dynamic operating system that keeps it stationary at sea even in the presence of currents and winds. The ship also has a tower capable of launching 340 tons of flexible lines that connect wells to oil production lines. Skandi Recife is the first ship of this type produced by Vard Promar.
At 140 meters long and 28 meters wide, Skandi Recife was delivered to the company Dofcon Navegação, which will lease the ship to Petrobras for eight years. The delivery was celebrated by the Senior Vice President of Brazil for the Vard Group, Guilherme Coelho. Proud, the executive stated that no place in Brazil can build the ship that the workers of Vard have completed.

I had the opportunity to witness this shipyard being established here in Pernambuco and to start this story of Vard Promar, which today delivers a high-tech ship made on Pernambucan soil and by Pernambucans. I understand the importance of this naval industry for Pernambuco, how it attracts jobs, and how it makes a difference in the lives of so many people. And we know that the workforce dedicated every day to building and constructing ships for the Vard Promar group is made up of Pernambucans who studied and trained and are now ready and prepared for an increasingly competitive future, building ships that meet international standards,” said Governor Paulo Câmara.
“The naval industry in Pernambuco generates nearly five thousand direct jobs and makes each of us Brazilians proud. We all need to work to ensure that this industry continues to generate jobs and wealth for our country”, stated Marcos Baptista. Skandi Recife is the fourth ship delivered by Vard Promar. The three previous ones were gas carriers. Two more vessels are nearing completion and are expected to be delivered later this year, one being another PLSV and one gas carrier.
