The Vessel Belongs to Dutch Shipowner Van Oord and Was the Fifth Dry-Docking Since January, Wilson Sons Plans to Carry Out 20 Operations of This Kind by the End of the Year

Wilson Sons Shipyard, located in Guarujá São Paulo, continues its routine of activities at an accelerated pace in early 2019, after delivering the conversion of the PSV “Fulmar” into SDSV last month, it was now time to complete another important service.
The Shipyard received in April, the backhoe dredger Simson, which is 68 meters long and 23 meters wide.

The vessel is owned by the Dutch Van Oord, one of the largest dredging operators in the world, with 150 years of market experience.

The services performed at the Wilson Sons shipyard dock involved structural repairs and upgrades to the box cooler (water cooling system).
The dredger had to interrupt its services at the Port of Santos to undergo the repairs, was built in the Netherlands, and has been in use for 10 years.

According to Adalberto Souza, executive director of Wilson Sons, the company was chosen by the shipowner for its excellent location, infrastructure, and secure operational practices.

“Other contracts are in advanced negotiation stages. Wilson Sons Shipyards has significant differentiators, such as a tradition of on-time deliveries, quality, competitive pricing, and the backing of a strong group like Wilson Sons,” highlighted the director.

Service Portfolio

This was the fifth dry-docking performed by Wilson Sons this year, and another 20 are already scheduled for 2019, which also includes the construction of a tugboat from the escort tug series, with 90 tons of static traction, for the group’s tugboat division, Wilson Sons Rebocadores.

Removal activities of more than 100 thousand tons of structures belonging to P71 and P72 are being sold as scrap and are expected to generate around 400 jobs within the Rio Grande shipyard in the south of the country!
