After being sold for R$ 850 million to the American warehouse giant Prologis, the land of over 1 million square meters is set to become a logistics center estimated at an incredible R$ 2 billion. The transaction of the former Ford factory, recently completed, marks a historic turn for the site, which was mostly owned by the real estate fund SJ AU Logística (75%) and also by BTG Pactual (25%). The sale occurred after Ford decided to end its operations in Brazil in 2019, divesting several assets, including the factory in São Bernardo do Campo, as well as other locations such as Bahia and Taubaté (SP).

Although the land had been used for smaller leases, such as a cell phone tower, its future is now grand. The transformation of the former Ford factory into a large-scale logistics center promises to bring new life to the site, which awaits approval from the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) for the transaction to be finalized. The news, initially reported in Jornal O Estado de SP, is already generating great anticipation in the market.

Its presence in Brazil dates back to 2008, having invested in locations such as Cajamar and established a joint venture with the Canadian group Ivanhoe Cambridge to develop logistics warehouses in the Brazilian market.

The recent announcement that Armando Fregoso, CEO of Prologis Brazil, will take over the entire operation in Latin America in 2024 underscores the commitment and strategic importance of the Brazilian market for the company.
