New factory will strengthen Eternit's participation in the state of SP, increasing the production capacity of fiber cement tiles by up to 20%

Last Monday, the 29th, Eternit announced a binding offer for the acquisition of the fiber-cement roofing company Confibra for R$ 110 million. Increase of up to 14,5% in the electricity bill for those who exploit the power of the sun in Ceará. Solar energy has already avoided the emission of more than one million tons of CO in Brazil

Confibra, located in Hortolândia, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, has a production capacity of around 14 thousand tons/month, which will represent a capacity increase of around 20% in Eternit's industrial park. The operation, which should be completed in the coming weeks, seeks to strengthen Eternit's position in São Paulo, where the company does not have any manufacturing unit for the product.

“This acquisition is a way for us to increase our market share and revenue without increasing total market capacity. Thus, there will be no pressure on prices and margins”, says Luís Augusto Barbosa, president of the Eternit Group.

Eternit supplies SP with products from its factories in Rio de Janeiro and Paraná

Currently, Eternit supplies the region with products from its factories in Rio de Janeiro and Paraná. “We are not going to replace the products that today come from these states with this new factory, because together with the installed capacity, we are going to acquire a market share. With that, Confibra's group of customers will also come. Thus, there will be no change in any other Eternit factory”, complements Barbosa.

Another advantage of the acquisition will be the increase in production at the factory in Manaus, where Eternit produces polypropylene, the raw material for fiber cement tiles. The company will supply the Confibra factory in Hortolândia with synthetic fiber coming from the capital of Amazonas.

Eternit starts mass production of solar tiles to sell in the Brazilian renewable market

Eternit is preparing a major turnaround, after selling asbestos tiles for almost 80 years, betting heavily on its solar tile project for the Brazilian renewable market. After receiving certification from Inmetro for solar tiles, Eternit completed, in the first two months of this year alone, four more installations of equipment in addition to the two projects completed in 2020.

New photovoltaic renewable energy projects were installed in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and in the city of Cambé, Paraná. The smallest of them, in Ourinhos, used only 72 solar tiles in the installation, but projected monthly savings of R$ 50 on the electricity bill, with a capacity of 70 kWh per month.

Each solar tile, produced by Eternit, measures 36,4 cm by 47,5 cm and has a power of 9,16 watts, which indicates an average monthly production capacity of 1,15 kilowatt-hours. With this, Eternit's largest renewable project, the one in Marília with 560 solar tiles, points to a production capacity of 550 kWh/month, enough for a rebate of R$ 390 in the bill.
