New Electronic Warfare Weapon Could Destroy Enemy Satellites, Such as Russia and China
The U.S. is advancing in the adoption of space electronic warfare technologies to neutralize threats from enemy satellites, especially from the intelligence sectors of Russia and China.
The new system, called Meadowlands, is an innovative project developed by the defense company L3Harris, aimed at providing an additional layer of security for American troops and equipment.
Initially scheduled for 2022, the Meadowlands faced significant delays. However, after essential corrections and updates, the system is in the final testing phase, with deployment expected in 2025.

The Meadowlands will be critical for blocking enemy access to satellite communication, thereby protecting U.S. defense infrastructure.

Meadowlands: How Does It Work Against Satellites?
The Meadowlands utilizes ground-based radio frequency units that can disrupt the communication of adversary satellites. This capability is essential to ensure the security of military operations, preventing enemies from tracking or monitoring the activities of U.S. troops on land, in the air, and at sea.
Furthermore, the Counter Communications System (CCS), which was updated by L3Harris, now allows for enemy communication blocking with just one touch, making the process faster and more efficient.
According to sources at L3Harris, the Meadowlands not only blocks communication but also allows for the resumption of satellite operations when necessary.
This feature is valuable as it enables the U.S. to disrupt enemy communication at critical moments and quickly restore system functionality after the mission.
Growing Threat from Russia and China
Russia and China have heavily invested in space technology, including satellite systems designed for military surveillance and monitoring. A study from Defense Post highlights that the increasing number of threats has led the U.S. to strengthen its space defense strategies.
The U.S. Space Force and the National Guard currently operate 16 CCS platforms, responsible for blocking satellite communications from adversaries in conflict situations.
These electronic warfare systems, including the Meadowlands, aim to neutralize attempts at surveillance and monitoring of American forces and bases. By preventing communication from enemy satellites, the U.S. gains a strategic advantage, making it difficult for other powers to plan and execute hostile actions.
Benefits and Impact of Meadowlands
The Meadowlands will be delivered with high-tech antennas resembling radars, mounted on mobile platforms, such as wheeled trailers, to allow for rapid mobility. This portability is essential as it enables use in various locations both within and outside the United States.
Additionally, L3Harris signed a contract worth US$ 124 million with the U.S. government in 2022 to expand CCS units, optimizing performance and reducing the size of mobile platforms, while also enhancing system automation.
These improvements were designed to maximize field effectiveness and enable a rapid response to military needs.
In a recent statement, Ed Zoiss, president of Space and Airborne Systems at L3Harris, highlighted the importance of the contract for the U.S. Space Force: “This contract is another important step in our strategy and for our client, the Space Force, to maintain and protect the very important space domain.”
The New Era of Space Electronic Warfare
The Meadowlands program is part of a broader strategy by the United States to train soldiers and space control officers who will be responsible for efficiently operating interference systems during conflict times.
The U.S. Space Force is also preparing to respond more quickly and accurately to emerging threats.
Another important aspect is that the new interference system was designed to avoid creating space debris. According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Meadowlands temporarily interferes with the signals of adversary satellites in a “reversible” manner without causing permanent damage. This approach reduces the risks of space collisions and possible conflicts with international organizations.
The Meadowlands, with an estimated cost of US$ 219 million, represents an evolution of the Counter Communications System, an electronic warfare system that began operating in 2020.
This newer, more compact, and enhanced version of the CCS reaffirms the U.S. commitment to space security and the defense of its military operations.

Os EUA estão ficando doidos, é?!… se a Russia e China já estão anos-luz a frente nestes artefatos, e se os EUA inventarem de reagir vão sofrer mais outra derrota vergonhosa. Melhor é ficarem quietinhos e darem aquele sorrizal tipo Kamala.Vai vendo…
