Companies Like CTG, Casa dos Ventos, and Unimed Received Authorization to Start Operations with Solar and Wind Energy in Five Brazilian States, Signaling a New Stage in the Advancement of Renewable Sources and Energy Decentralization in the Country.
The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) authorized between April 14 and 17, 2025, the commercial and testing operation of 364.4 megawatts (MW) in renewable energy sources.
The projects are distributed across five Brazilian states and involve companies such as CTG Brazil, Unimed, Casa dos Ventos, and Cobra Brasil.
The advancement represents another important step for the expansion of the country’s clean and sustainable energy matrix.

CTG Brazil Activates Solar Plants in Minas Gerais
CTG Brazil, one of the largest private companies in the electric energy sector in the country, received approval to start the commercial operation of three plants from the Arinos Solar Complex, totaling 144.3 MW of installed capacity.
The units are located in the municipality of Arinos, in the northwest of Minas Gerais.
The initiative reinforces the company’s presence in the solar sector, with projects aimed at contributing to the diversification of the national energy matrix.
The Arinos Solar Complex is composed of state-of-the-art photovoltaic panels, capable of providing energy to thousands of residences.
Solar energy generation has been one of CTG Brazil’s priorities, as it seeks to consolidate itself in the renewable sector, in addition to its strong performance in hydropower plants.
Unimed Advances with Solar Project in Espírito Santo
In the municipality of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in Espírito Santo, Unimed received authorization to begin operation of a solar unit aimed at supplying its hospital.
With a generation capacity of 0.88 MW, the UFV Unimed Sul Capixaba – Hospital Unimed represents an important step in the pursuit of sustainability and reduction of operational costs in the healthcare sector.
The project is part of the medical cooperative’s strategy to invest in clean energy sources to ensure efficiency and environmental responsibility in its hospital operations.
In addition to contributing to the environment, the initiative is expected to generate significant savings in electricity expenses.
Casa dos Ventos Expands Wind Presence in Bahia
Casa dos Ventos, one of the leaders in wind energy in Brazil, has been authorized to operate commercially two plants in the state of Bahia: Ventos de Santo Antônio 06 and 08, with a total capacity of 27 MW.
The units are located between the municipalities of Morro do Chapéu and Várzea Nova, strategic areas for energy generation by wind force.
The company also received permission to conduct tests on a generating unit of 4.5 MW from the Ventos de Santo Antônio 04 plant, located in the same municipality.
In the same region, another wind plant — Ventos de Santa Luzia 15 — has also been cleared for testing, with the same capacity of 4.5 MW.
Bahia continues to be one of the leading states in the production of wind energy, attracting robust investments to its territory.
These ventures further strengthen the Northeast’s role in the Brazilian energy transition.
Ceará Receives Boost in Solar Energy
The state of Ceará was awarded the release of units from the Lins 01 and 02 photovoltaic plants, which together total an impressive 182 MW of installed capacity.
The projects are the responsibility of Cobra Brasil, a company that has significantly expanded its operation in the solar energy market.
The UFVs are located in areas with high solar incidence, favoring the productivity of the panels.
With this boost, Ceará consolidates itself as one of the main regions producing clean energy in the country.
Other States Also Advance in the Renewable Sector
In Pernambuco, the UFV Akzonobel Recife was authorized to operate with 0.58 MW, while in Rio Grande do Sul, the UFV Fv Cavaletti received the green light to generate 0.61 MW.
Although the numbers may seem modest, these projects have strategic value for the decentralization of energy generation and more efficient local supply.
By allowing more regions to produce their own energy, the country reduces transmission losses and gains stability in supply.
Data Centers Also Seek Sustainable Sources
The Secretariat for Energy Transition and Planning of the Ministry of Mines and Energy approved the alternative access to the basic network of the National Interconnected System (SIN) for the Data Center Santa Bárbara, of the company BEP Trading, located in São Paulo.
According to the agency, the project aligns with the criteria of lower interconnection cost and the strategic planning for the expansion of the electric sector for the next five years.
The proposal considers the growing needs of data centers, large consumers of energy, and their quest for more efficient and sustainable solutions.
In addition, three other data center projects have also been recognized by the Secretariat, with potential to connect to the national network soon.
Despite the preliminary authorization, definitive access still depends on approval from the National Electric System Operator (ONS) and from Aneel itself.
The growing demand for energy in data centers, driven by digitalization and artificial intelligence, requires robust and environmentally responsible solutions.
Energy Transition Strengthens in Brazil
The recent authorizations from Aneel and the Secretariat for Energy Transition show that Brazil is steadily advancing in the expansion of renewable energy.
Companies from various sectors, from healthcare to technology, are betting on clean sources as a way to ensure sustainability and energy security.
In addition to helping reduce carbon emissions, these investments generate jobs, foster innovation, and drive regional development.
With more than 364 MW in operation or testing released in just four days, the country signals that the transformation of the electric sector is in full swing.
The diversity of states involved proves that clean energy is becoming a reality from north to south in Brazil.
