Agribusiness Exports in Mato Grosso Are Boosted by the Installation of the ApexBrasil Office in Cuiabá, Partnership with Famato, Highlighting Soy, Corn, Cotton, Investments, and International Expansion
Agribusiness exports have always been an important engine for the economy of Mato Grosso and now receive an institutional boost that promises to open even more pathways, according to a report published.
On September 23, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Brasília between the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments (ApexBrasil) and the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Mato Grosso (Famato).
The agreement provides for the installation of an ApexBrasil office in Cuiabá, aimed at bringing local producers closer to international opportunities.

JBS, founded by the Batista brothers, continues to conquer the world: entrepreneurs built a ‘factory in the desert’ creating 3,000 jobs.

With only 1% of Brazil’s territory, Santa Catarina has built one of the most competitive industrial parks in the country, with 64,000 companies, nearly 1 million jobs, and a growth rate of 5.3% while the national industry is practically stagnant.
This move places Mato Grosso in an even more strategic position in the global agribusiness landscape.
The state already boasts impressive numbers: in 2024 alone, exports reached US$ 27.6 billion, with highlights for soy, corn, and cotton, which together accounted for 83% of that value.
In addition, 251 companies in the state were directly involved in this commercialization process.
The initiative comes at a time when Brazil has been gaining new markets for its agricultural products.
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, 437 new markets abroad have been opened, strengthening the country’s position as a global food supplier.
With the Apex office in Cuiabá, the expectation is that these connections will be further accelerated, bringing new opportunities for producers and companies in the state.
ApexBrasil and Famato Join Forces to Expand Agribusiness Exports
The installation of the ApexBrasil office in Cuiabá is a direct result of the partnership established with Famato.
The document was signed by the president of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, and the president of Famato, Vilmondes Sebastião Tomain, with the presence of Minister Carlos Fávaro as a witness.
This new office will have a central role in promoting agribusiness exports and attracting investments for Mato Grosso.
According to Jorge Viana, the state is already Brazil’s largest exporter and, therefore, it is strategic for ApexBrasil to be physically present in its territory.
The work will include actions for internationalization, connecting with foreign buyers, and supporting local companies at international fairs and events.
Minister Fávaro emphasized that this presence will bring producers even closer to the realities of the foreign market, offering technical and institutional support.
For him, the collective efforts between the government, producers, and institutions will generate new opportunities for the population, especially for those in Mato Grosso.
Soy and Corn Boost Agribusiness Exports in Mato Grosso
The latest numbers reinforce the importance of Mato Grosso in international trade. Between January and August 2025, the state exported US$ 19.75 billion in products.
The soybean complex alone accounted for US$ 13.07 billion, confirming the grain’s position as the main item on the trade agenda.
Following this, there were meats, with US$ 2.50 billion, and cotton, with US$ 1.91 billion. Cereals, flours, and preparations totaled US$ 1.60 billion, while oilseeds (excluding soy) reached US$ 271.9 million.
The diversification of the agenda shows that soy and corn, along with other items, form the basis of Mato Grosso’s export strength.
These products are essential not only for the state economy but also for balancing Brazil’s trade balance.

The destination of these exports is also noteworthy. China remains the main trading partner, but other markets such as Spain, Turkey, Thailand, and Vietnam are increasingly present in negotiations.
This shows that the work to open new markets, as mentioned by Minister Fávaro, is already showing practical results.
Cotton and International Investments Strengthen Mato Grosso’s Agribusiness
Another highlight of agribusiness exports in Mato Grosso is cotton. In 2024, this product represented a significant part of the US$ 27.6 billion exported, alongside soy and corn.
The presence of cotton as a weighty item on the export agenda shows the potential for diversifying the state’s production.
With the installation of the ApexBrasil office in Cuiabá, the expectation is that cotton and other products will gain even more space in international markets.
Jorge Viana emphasized that the agency works not only on promoting exports but also on attracting foreign investments. This means that Mato Grosso can receive external capital to strengthen its infrastructure and expand its productive capacity.
The president of Famato, Vilmondes Tomain, emphasized that the new office will provide conditions to discuss more specific strategies for export and competitiveness.
For him, this structure in Cuiabá will be direct support for local companies seeking to expand their presence in international trade.
Agribusiness Exports in New Global Markets
The opening of new markets is one of the pillars of the growth of Brazilian agribusiness exports.
According to Minister Carlos Fávaro, the number of agricultural attaches has increased from 29 to 40, strengthening Brazil’s diplomatic presence at strategic points around the world.
This facilitates contact with importers, improves agreement negotiations, and opens doors for different products.
The ApexBrasil office in Cuiabá arrives exactly in this context. With the agency closer to producers, it will be possible to offer support in participating in international fairs, as well as assisting companies in adapting their products to the standards required by each country.
This makes the journey of internationalization less complex and more accessible.
With this structure, Mato Grosso gains new perspectives. The goal is to increase the number of exporting companies beyond the 251 that already operated in 2024. Thus, more local producers will be able to take advantage of the network of contacts and opportunities created by ApexBrasil and Famato.
