The thefts and robberies of motorcycles in São Paulo saw a reduction of 7.7% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. The survey, conducted by the vehicle tracking company Ituran, used data from the São Paulo State Public Security Secretary. There were 19,429 reported occurrences from January to June this year, compared to 21,045 last year.
Theft, which occurs without the use of violence, accounted for 71.61% of cases, while robberies, characterized by the use of force or threat, corresponded to 28.39%.

The Numbers Of The Most Stolen Motorcycles In São Paulo
São Paulo city led the number of occurrences in the state but also registered a significant drop: 7,921 cases in 2024, down from 8,485 in 2023. Other municipalities with high rates of thefts and robberies included Osasco (650 cases), Guarulhos (591), Campinas (590), and São Bernardo do Campo (510).

The Numbers Are Still Concerning
The prevalence of thefts, which exceed robberies by over 70%, reflects the vulnerability of motorcycles parked without additional security. This reinforces the need to adopt measures such as installing trackers and high-resistance locks, as well as avoiding unprotected parking locations.
The Honda CG 160, which has led the ranking of the most stolen motorcycles for years, remains a challenge for authorities and owners. Its popularity in the secondary market and the ease of dismantling are factors that increase its attractiveness to criminals.
