Club Hired Three Companies to Conduct Studies on the Land That Will Support the Architectural Project of the Future Arena
Flamengo officially commenced technical studies for the construction of its new stadium on the Gasômetro site, located in the central region of Rio de Janeiro. The current stage is dedicated to collecting soil and area data to guide the architectural project and ensure safety and feasibility for the work.
Study Stage Marks Progress in the Construction Project
Following the acquisition of the land at Gasômetro, Flamengo began a crucial phase for the future of the project: conducting technical and environmental studies. According to information released by the club on its YouTube channel and supplemented by CNN Brazil’s portal, three specialized companies have been hired to carry out the surveys. Arena MRV + Venues will be responsible for the conceptual project, while Aecom will handle environmental and soil contamination analysis, Soloteste will focus on the geotechnical aspects, and JDS will manage the topography.
Land Will Be Analyzed from Various Angles

The land covers approximately 90,000 square meters and requires a thorough technical evaluation. Professionals are conducting surveys to collect soil samples and measure its resistance, an essential step in determining the type of ideal foundation for the future arena. The safe construction process begins precisely in this initial phase of analysis, focusing on preventing unforeseen events during the execution of the work. According to the club’s infrastructure manager, Patrícia Taka, the construction schedule will be established only after completing the studies, which should take about six months.
