The Ford EcoSport Storm Arrived in 2018 with a 2.0 Engine, 4×4 Traction, and Promises a Unique Driving Experience, with Features that Renew the Favorite Compact of Brazilians.

The Ford EcoSport Storm 2018 is the kind of SUV that makes an entrance with noise, literally. With a 2.0 engine and four-wheel drive, it seems to be made for those who are not afraid to face storms — both on the asphalt and off-road. But does it really deliver all that or is it just marketing talk? We went to check in detail!

When Ford announced this ”storm” version of the already well-known EcoSport, many were curious to know what really changed and how this would affect performance. After all, it is a favorite for those looking for a compact SUV with personality, but did the Ford EcoSport Storm manage to make the quality leap that consumers so eagerly awaited?

Ford EcoSport Storm Was in Need of an Upgrade

The Ford EcoSport Storm arrived in 2018 with the mission of giving the model a new breath, which was already in need of an update to compete equally with its competitors in the compact SUV market. The big news, besides the renewed look, is the 2.0 engine with direct injection, inherited from the Ford Focus, which brings impressive performance to this category.

The engine, capable of delivering 176 horsepower and 22.5 kgfm of torque, ensures that the Ford EcoSport Storm is not just a pretty face. And speaking of beauty, the design is also a strong point. The robust front grille with the ”Storm” emblem, the xenon headlights, and the exclusive 17-inch wheels reinforce the aggressive and adventurous look.

Engine and Consumption: What Really Matters?

At the heart of the Ford EcoSport Storm is the 2.0 engine, with the capacity to deliver impressive performance both in the city and on the road. Running on ethanol, the urban consumption is around 6.5 km/l, while with gasoline, the number rises to 8.5 km/l. On the highway, this compact SUV can reach up to 12 km/l with gasoline, which is not bad for a vehicle with four-wheel drive.

The intelligent 4×4 traction is another differential. The system automatically distributes the power between the front and rear wheels, ensuring stable handling even on rougher terrain. It’s the kind of car that makes you feel in control, whether on smooth asphalt or on challenging trails.

Comfort and Interior Space: Still Cramped?

If on one hand the engine performance impresses, the interior space still leaves something to be desired. The Ford EcoSport Storm maintains a compact style, which means that having three adults in the back seat can be a difficult mission. The 356-liter trunk is also one of the smallest in the category, which can be a downside for those looking for more practicality in their daily lives.

The sunroof, although a nice touch, takes away some precious centimeters of headroom. But let’s agree, if you are willing to tackle a compact 4×4 SUV, maybe space isn’t your main priority.

Equipment and Technology

In terms of technology, the Ford EcoSport Storm does not disappoint. It comes equipped with an 8-inch multimedia system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus a premium sound system from Sony with nine speakers. The digital air conditioning, the button start, and the cruise control are features that make the driving experience even more comfortable.

Another interesting point is the intelligent traction system, which monitors the distribution of force between the axles in real time. This ensures that the car is always ready to face any type of terrain, without the driver needing to worry about activating or deactivating the traction.

Price: Is It Worth It?

Now comes the question that won’t go away: is it worth investing R$ 99,990 in the Ford EcoSport Storm? If you are looking for a compact SUV with 4×4 traction, a powerful engine, and a good dose of technology, the answer is yes. The price is competitive compared to other models in the category, such as the Jeep Renegade and the Hyundai Creta, which offer similar options but generally at higher prices and without all the robustness of the Storm.

The issue of engine and consumption may weigh heavily for those who drive a lot in the city, as ethanol consumption is relatively high. But for those who enjoy off-road adventures and want a car capable of tackling any challenge, the Ford EcoSport Storm is an excellent choice.

Ford EcoSport Storm Is an Interesting Option

YouTube Video

With a renewed look, four-wheel drive, and an engine that does not disappoint, the Ford EcoSport Storm is an interesting option for those seeking a compact SUV with an adventurous spirit. Of course, the interior space still leaves something to be desired, but for those who prioritize performance and style, this 2018 version does not disappoint. The FIPE of the model is at 70 thousand reais.

Now we want to know: do you think the Ford EcoSport Storm has what it takes to compete head-on with its rivals? Leave your opinion in the comments!
