Outage Without Deadline and More Than 1.5 Million Without Power
On Thursday (12/11/2025), Enel Distribuição São Paulo stated that there was no deadline to restore power to thousands of properties in the capital and Greater São Paulo.
In a statement sent at 3 PM, the company claimed that, in some areas, the restoration required complete reconstruction of the network, with the replacement of poles and transformers and, in some cases, the reconduction of kilometers of cables.
The company also stated that parking lots filled with vehicles seen in three points of the city contained cars from teams of different shifts, according to the explanation from regional director Marcelo Puertas to Bom Dia São Paulo.
According to the cited data, more than 1.5 million properties in 24 cities served by Enel remained without power on the morning of Thursday (12/11/2025), about 1 million only in the capital.
At 2:59 PM, there were 1,258,755 customers without power in the capital and metropolitan region, with 865,870 in the capital.
Enel attributed the outage to an extratropical cyclone and a windstorm considered historic, according to Inmet, lasting approximately 12 hours on Wednesday (12/10/2025) with gusts of up to 98 km/h.
The power outage affected traffic lights, water supply, and urban mobility.

Some of those operating used generators amidst the lack of an official forecast for normalization.

What has not been reported: the employee’s defense version and the deadline for restoring power.
In situations of outages, paying to restore power is described by Enel as a practice outside of the rules and must be treated as a formal complaint.
Preserve screenshots, audios, and receipts, register an occurrence report, and use the official channels of Enel and SSP to follow-up on guidance and updates in Vila Mariana and Diadema.
