Lack Of Agreement Between Petrobras And FUP Leads Union To Issue Strike Notice Starting Next Saturday
The ACT (Collective Labor Agreement) of 2019 did not have the expected outcome for everyone, and Petrobras, its subsidiaries, and Araucária Nitrogenados (ANSA) were notified by FUP and its affiliated unions that the oil workers will begin a strike starting at midnight on Friday, October 26. The RIP was considered one of the best companies in its category by Época 360 magazine.
The decision of the union entities is backed by the assembly that rejected the proposal from Petrobras issued on September 26 for the 2019 collective agreement.

Lack Of Agreement
According to a statement from FUP to TST, due to Petrobras’ intransigence in negotiations, the oil workers had no alternative but to exercise their legitimate right to strike. (Click here to read FUP’s statement in full).
Since there was no response from Petrobras to continue the negotiations, the workers who had already rejected the proposal in the assembly approved an indefinite strike starting on October 26.
Among the most important points of the agreement are the maintenance of rights and jobs and the preservation of clauses from previous agreements.
Petrobras has eliminated some rights earned by the category over the last decades, wants to grant a salary adjustment of only 70% of inflation, and proposes to increase medical assistance for oil workers by more than 17%.
Another controversial point is the closure by the Brazilian state-owned company of offices across the country and the launch of several layoff plans.
The most critical case is that of the subsidiaries and Araucária Nitrogenados, which did not present a Collective Agreement proposal to its workers.
A meeting today (October 23) at the deliberative council in Rio de Janeiro will outline the strike strategies that will be adopted by FUP and the unions.
