The Centralized Solar Power Generation Market is Growing in Brazil, and Greener Company Announced That the Country is Close to Hitting the 45 GW Installed Capacity Target Across the National Territory
During last Friday, (04/22), Greener, one of the largest renewable energy consulting firms in Brazil, announced that the country is on track to reach the 45 GW installed capacity mark in centralized solar power generation projects. This is the new target for many companies and entrepreneurs across the country.
The 45 GW Installed Capacity Mark in Centralized Solar Power Generation Projects Will Be Essential for the Renewable Market in Brazil, Reveals Greener Company
A recent study by Greener, a giant in consulting for the renewable energy sector, confirmed that the distributed solar power generation market in Brazil has been growing steadily in recent years and that the country is heading towards the remarkable 45 GW installed capacity mark, a number not previously seen within the national territory, which could open doors for many investments in this segment.
The study was based on an analysis of the landscape of large-scale solar power projects in both free and regulated contracting environments, also creating benchmarks for current and future projects according to market dynamics. Furthermore, it served to showcase the growth of the photovoltaic sector in Brazil in recent years and how it could be important for even greater socioeconomic development in the country, provided it receives the necessary investments to make this happen.
Thus, Greener’s document revealed that the country currently has 43.7 GW of installed capacity in solar power projects, both in the Free Contracting Environment (ACL) and the Regulated Contracting Environment (ACR). Additionally, the data shows that of all the projects included in the research, about 4.8 GW are already in operation, while 3.9 GW are under construction and another 35 GW have not yet started construction, thus contributing to reaching the 45 GW mark even faster than the consultancy expects for the country.
Installed Capacity of Solar Power in Centralized Generation Projects is Expected to Expand by Up to 27 GW Over the Next 10 Years
Greener invested in a quality team for conducting the research and studies in its recent report on solar energy in Brazil, and according to the document, over the next 10 years, an increase of more than 27 GW is expected in the country compared to the previous reference scenario, representing a 38% increase compared to the year 2021, which was already seen as a year of great results for the renewable sector in Brazil.
In addition, Greener also noted that new projects in the centralized power generation market are becoming larger and highlighted: “The efficiency gains from increased scale have encouraged entrepreneurs to develop larger projects, optimizing investment and operational costs.”
Finally, Greener’s research also found that more than half of the solar power projects in Brazil were financed by BNB (Bank of the Northeast) and that the total number of new module supply contracts mapped was 4.3 GWp, a 17% expansion compared to the previous year. Thus, the company was able to demonstrate the relevance of the solar power sector and the importance of new investments for this segment to grow even more in the country.
