Hitachi Energy Is About to Transform the Brazilian Energy Landscape with a Historic Investment and an Ambitious Expansion That Promises to Shake the Market.
This Tuesday (03), at an event in São Paulo, Hitachi Energy announced the largest investment in its history in Brazil: US$ 200 million, equivalent to about 1.2 billion reais.
This amount will not only drive a 50% expansion of the company’s capacity but will also result in the construction of a new factory in the country. Additionally, there will be up to 3,000 new job openings. Of these, 600 are direct and confirmed, which will have a significant impact on the local economy.
Historic Expansion in Brazil
Celebrating its 70th anniversary in Brazil, Hitachi Energy, which is already a global leader in technology, decided it was time to take an even bigger step toward a more sustainable energy future.

According to Noaman Amjad, Head of Marketing and Sales in Japan, South America, and North Korea, “Brazil, with its vast energy resources, plays a key role in the energy world.”
He emphasized that the company has already been responsible for significant power transmissions, such as that from the Itaipu dam to the state of São Paulo, and is now upgrading these systems to further strengthen its commitment to Brazil’s energy future.

Established Presence and New Challenges
Hitachi Energy is present in much of Brazil, operating in crucial sectors such as commercial, with significant partnerships, including Petrobras.
According to Glauco Freitas, president of the company in Brazil, the company has been in the country since 1954 and currently employs 1,500 people distributed across two factories.
In the last four years, the number of employees has grown by 35%, reflecting an average annual increase of 25% in operations. “Today, the company has the largest base of transformers and high-voltage equipment in Brazil, present in over 50% of the country’s wind and solar parks,” Freitas highlighted.
According to him, now discussing job creation, of these new 600 direct jobs, 150 will be for the factory located in Guarulhos. The rest will be due to the company’s new factory. Additionally, he emphasizes that “this major investment demonstrates” the company’s commitment “to support Brazil in its efforts to accelerate the energy transition.”
New Horizons for the Future
The expansion is not limited to numbers. According to Bruno Melles, Global Managing Director of Hitachi Energy’s Transformers business, the company is prepared to invest even more in the next three years, aiming to expand its global presence and strengthen its operations in Brazil.
“We are discussing a new investment announcement. We believe in people and our duty as a company to support the energy transition,” said Melles.
A New Factory to Strengthen the Future
The new factory, which will be built over the next four years, will have 40,000 square meters of built area within a total area of 300,000 square meters. The exact location is still being defined, but the expectation is that it will be in the Rio-São Paulo axis.
The plant will be dedicated to construction and engineering, and the expansion will increase production capacity by 50%, creating approximately 400 direct jobs.
Alexandre Malveiro, a representative of Hitachi Energy, highlighted that this new plant will further strengthen the company’s ability to meet the growing demand of the local and global market.
“We are talking about 600 new employees, adding to the existing 1,500. It will take two years for the expansion and another four for the new factory to be fully operational,” he explained.
Impact on Logistics and Future Challenges
However, the path is not without challenges. According to Malveiro, “we face logistical issues with these machines due to their size.”
To overcome this barrier, the company is already working in partnership with the government and other companies to streamline logistics and ensure that the expansion can happen as planned.
“We already have guarantees for this 50% capacity, but we want to go further in the next two years,” he completed.
Strategic Partnerships and Training
The location of the new factory still depends on negotiations with municipalities to ensure that there is a qualified workforce and partnerships with institutions such as Senai and Senac.
Hitachi Energy has already partnered with Senai to recruit skilled workers and is looking for cities that offer the necessary support for the installation of the new plant.
This expansion and investment by Hitachi Energy in Brazil mark a new chapter in the country’s energy history, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. Brazil once again stands out as a crucial player on the global stage, with a promising future in the energy sector.
