Hyundai Kona Electric Is Now More Than 80,000 Reais Cheaper and Is Leading as the Cheapest Electric SUV in the National Market.
The price war between electric and hybrid cars in the market is getting more intense. Proof of this is that Hyundai recently announced another price reduction for its range of electrified products, namely the Kona and Ioniq. In this article, we will highlight its engine, range, interior space, and many other aspects.
Hyundai Kona Electric Is 80,000 Reais Cheaper
According to a statement from Caoa, after renegotiating prices with the Korean headquarters, the automaker’s cheap electric car, the Kona, dropped from R$ 219,990 to R$ 189,990, resulting in a R$ 30,000 reduction.
It’s worth remembering that the Hyundai Kona electric was already on sale with an R$ 80,000 discount compared to its launch price of R$ 299,990. This keeps the affordable electric car in the position of the cheapest electric SUV in the country, ahead of the JAC E-JS4.

The front of the vehicle is somewhat controversial, featuring a charging port with a panel that shows the battery level. In the Hyundai Kona logo, there is an LED that indicates when the temperature of the components is above normal, so the consumer is not “caught by surprise.” The most interesting aspect is its optical set, which is entirely LED.
On the upper part, the indicators and DRL operate, while the headlights are positioned lower, quite different from other models. The affordable electric car, weighing 1,610 kg, comes with an 8-year warranty on the batteries provided by the manufacturer.
Hyundai’s Affordable Electric Car Delivers 136 Horsepower
The Hyundai Kona electric can deliver up to 136 horsepower, but what really impresses is its torque of 40.3 kgfm, ensuring a 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds; however, according to tests, it can be even quicker. According to Inmetro, the affordable electric car can deliver 252 km of range on a single charge. However, it is important to highlight that Inmetro conducts very rigorous measurements.
The rear of the vehicle features a unique design with brake lights at the top and indicators at the bottom. The trunk offers 322 L of space, slightly larger than a Fiat Pulse, but trailing behind a Hyundai Creta. When all seats are folded down, the affordable electric car can provide up to 1,500 liters.
Interior of the 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric

Inside the affordable electric car, there is a minimalist design, with leather seats, soft-touch finishes, and good quality plastic. The steering wheel has height and depth adjustments, as well as features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
The steering wheel also has paddles that, in turn, do not serve to change gears, but rather to activate the regenerative braking system. Its multimedia center comes with Android CarPlay, Apple CarPlay and good sound quality, with physical buttons. Its native GPS is one of its highlights, showing where nearby chargers are located.
Among other incredible technologies of the model are the digital air conditioning, driver’s seat with electric adjustments, adaptive speed controller, lane departure warning with steering correction, automatic emergency braking, wireless phone charger, heated folding mirrors, head-up display, LED headlights with automatic activation, rain sensor, and digital instrument cluster.
