With Electric and Hybrid Versions, the Hyundai Kona Crossover Will Get a New Generation Launched in Brazil, Competing in Range with BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora 03
Hyundai Motor Brazil is about to launch its first imported model in Brazil after the unification of operations and network with the Caoa group. The sighting suggests that the new generation of the Hyundai Kona will be launched in July with impressive range and power. The crossover was seen undisguised, with a green license plate and ready for debut, according to the Estadão website.
Futuristic Design, Range, and Advanced Versions
The choice of the Kona as the first launch in Brazil of the imported line by HMB makes sense, as the previous model, launched by Caoa about a year ago, was an immediate success with hybrid and 100% electric versions at competitive prices. The new generation promises even more features, starting with the futuristic design, featuring daytime running lights and rear lights in unique pieces that form light bars, with LED lighting.

The images show the hybrid version of the new Hyundai Kona, which promises a competitive price. The previous model is already one of the most affordable HEV hybrids in the country and one of the most economical electrified vehicles in the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV) by Inmetro. The new generation is even better, according to official data from the South Korean automaker.

According to Hyundai, the Kona has switched platforms and now uses the same base as the Kia Niro. As a result, it is larger, measuring 4.35 meters in length, 15 cm longer than the current model. Additionally, it is more powerful in the battery versions, both with front-wheel drive. The 2025 Kona EV has two options: the more basic generates 115 kW of power (156 hp), while the top version reaches 160 kW (218 hp).
Power and Efficiency
The Kona Hybrid maintains the same set from the previous generation, also available in the Kia Niro. It combines the 1.6 16V direct injection engine with another electric motor, generating 150 kW (141 hp) and 27 mkgf of maximum torque, with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The batteries of the new Kona have also increased in capacity. The Kona EV has options of 48 kWh and 65 kWh, providing a range of 377 km and 514 km, respectively, in the global WLTP cycle. Previously, the ranges were 305 km and 484 km. The charging time of the batteries has also decreased: at high-powered direct current stations, charging now takes 41 minutes, compared to the previous 47 minutes. It is possible to recover up to 162 km of range in just 15 minutes at stations with 100 kW of power.
Modern and Technological Interior
The interior of the crossover resembles the Ioniq 5, featuring two 12.3-inch screens side by side, a head-up display, and a “digital key” that allows you to lock, unlock, and start the car via smartphone. The new Kona EV also features the Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) function, allowing the car to be used as a power source to recharge other devices, including an e-bike. Standard features include GPS navigation, wireless mirroring with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital air conditioning, USB-C ports, and 17-inch wheels.
The current generation of the Kona has already been discontinued in South Korea, but there are still units available in Brazilian dealerships. The Kona Hybrid has a price tag of R$ 169,990, while the Kona EV costs R$ 189,990. With the launch of the new Kona in Brazil, these prices are expected to rise, with the electric model costing around R$ 200 thousand and the hybrid around R$ 180 thousand.
