Ibama Issued the Operating License for the FPSO Anna Nery, from Petrobras, in the Marlim Field of the Campos Basin. The vessel is one of the state-owned company’s bets for the resumption of production in mature fields in the region.
For this Friday, (03/17), Petrobras is making significant progress in its revitalization project for the Marlim field, located in the Campos Basin. The Brazilian Institute of Environment (Ibama) approved this week the operating license needed to start production of the FPSO Anna Nery platform. The vessel has a production capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil per day.
With the Receipt of the Operating License from Ibama for Production on the FPSO Anna Nery, Petrobras Advances in the Revitalization Project for the Marlim Field
Ibama recently issued the operating license for the FPSO Anna Nery, a floating platform that will be used by Petrobras in the Marlim field, in the Campos Basin.
The granting of this license is an important milestone for Petrobras, which has been seeking the resumption of oil production in mature fields in the region for years.

The Marlim field is one of the largest oil producers in the Campos Basin and was discovered in 1985. Since then, it has been a major highlight in the production of oil and natural gas, but now it needs to undergo a revitalization process.
The granting of the Ibama operating license provides the state-owned company with what it needs to bring the FPSO into production. The vessel has a production capacity of up to 70,000 barrels of oil per day. In addition, it can process up to 4 million m³ of gas per day.
The installation and production of fuels on the FPSO Anna Nery is just the first step in Petrobras’ revitalization plan for the Marlim Field in the Campos Basin.
The FPSO will be installed in water depths of 927 meters and interconnected to 32 wells, and the company’s forecast is that the peak production will occur in 2026.
Until then, the oil company continues to invest its efforts to ensure the efficient utilization of fuel reserves in the area.
Granting of the Operating License to Petrobras Represents a Good Sign for the Revitalization Project of the Marlim Field with the Anna Nery
To obtain the operating license for the FPSO Anna Nery, Petrobras had to fulfill a series of requirements from Ibama.
The environmental agency assessed the impact of the operation of the floating platform on the environment and determined the measures that Petrobras must adopt to minimize these impacts.
In addition, Petrobras needed to present a detailed study on greenhouse gas emissions during the operation of the floating platform.
The state-owned company committed to adopting measures to reduce these emissions and contribute to the reduction of the environmental impact of its activity.
The granting of the operating license for the FPSO Anna Nery is a positive sign for Petrobras, which has been facing significant challenges in recent years. In addition to the decline in oil production in the Campos Basin, the state-owned company also faced issues related to corruption and inefficient management.
Despite this, it has adopted measures to overcome these challenges. The sale of non-essential assets, for example, has allowed the company to concentrate its investments in strategic areas.
In the coming months, with the operation of the FPSO Anna Nery, Petrobras intends to return to large production in the Marlim Field, in the Campos Basin.
