Those seeking free professional qualification can start preparing: the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP), Barretos Campus, has opened 200 openings in free courses in-person and free EAD extension courses for the first semester of 2026. The selection covers areas such as technology, social inclusion, and sports, in addition to addressing the growing demand for free online language courses and technical training similar to those offered by IFRS in various regions of the country.
The opportunities will be allocated between open competition and legal reserves, and filling will proceed in order of registration. Therefore, those who want to secure a spot need to act quickly.
The initiative, regulated by Public Notice No. 7/2026, aims to strengthen professional qualification and promote the social development of the local community. Furthermore, it reinforces the role of federal institutes in providing quality public and free education.

In this sense, the offering aligns with the national trend of expanding free education, similar to what IFRS also does with free online language courses and technical training.
Who Can Participate?
The criteria vary according to the chosen course. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to the requirements.
For sports activities, such as volleyball and karate, the primary criterion is the minimum age required for each class. Children aged 5 and 6 must be accompanied by guardians during the activities.
In the case of the Cisco CCNA ITN Training (EAD) course, the candidate must be enrolled in at least the 2nd year of high school. Additionally, they must have a computer with internet access and minimum hardware specifications to attend online classes and activities.
In the Basic Libras – Module 2 course, proof of completion of Module 1 is mandatory, ensuring that the student has an adequate foundation to follow the content.
Another important point concerns inclusion policies. The openings are distributed as follows:
- 70% for open competition;
- 25% for Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Quilombola candidates;
- 5% for people with disabilities.
This division ensures a more democratic access to the opportunities offered by the institution.
How Does the Selection Process Work?
Unlike traditional selections with exams, the process will be simplified. The selection of candidates will occur by order of registration.
That is, the first registrants who meet the requirements specified in the public notice will be automatically classified for enrollment. Therefore, the speed in sending the application can make all the difference.
The preliminary list of classified candidates will be published on February 19, 2026, on the official website of Barretos Campus.
Classes are scheduled to begin on March 2, 2026.
Is There a Certificate?
Yes. Since these are extension courses offered by a Federal Institute, participants who meet attendance and performance requirements will receive a completion certificate.
This detail makes a difference on a résumé. After all, training from federal institutions, such as IFSP and IFRS, adds academic credibility and can strengthen professional profiles, whether for a first job or career advancement.
How to Enroll?
Enrollment is completely free and must be done exclusively online by February 18, 2026.
As the selection will be based on the order of registration, the recommendation is not to wait until the last minute. Those who miss the deadline will miss out on this edition.
