Iberdrola, through its Brazilian subsidiary Neoenergia, will build the Paraíba wind energy complex in northeastern Brazil
Comprised of 18 wind farms that will add a total installed capacity of over 565 megawatts (MW), the new wind power development will come on stream between 2022 and 2023 and will generate 1.200 jobs in its construction phase.

The project will favor the creation of local jobs, since more than 1.200 workers are expected to be hired during the construction works. Brazil will become, after the entry into operation of the Paraíba complex, the country with the largest wind power of the Iberdrola group in Latin America.

The Paraíba complex, which will start operating between 2022 and 2023, will be located near the city of Santa Luzia, in one of the windiest areas in America. This large renewable facility will comprise a total of 18 wind farms, three of which are already operating — Canoas, Lagoa I and Lagoa II — and another 15 are in different stages of development. At the meeting, the head of the state executive presented the economic potential of Paraíba and the state's capacity to generate renewable energy.
“We have one of the best rates solarimetric in Brazil, a large wind energy generation capacity and we already have parks being implemented in the State, in addition to investments in transmission lines”, he reports.
The governor enriched with details about the Cabo Branco Tourist Hub projects, tourist activities and even resorts are under development. “Paraíba's doors are open to receive new investments and we are ready to contribute in the best way possible”, said Governor João Azevedo.
