Expansion of BR-282: The Signed Contract and Next Steps
The much-anticipated expansion of BR-282 is on its way, with a new contract of R$ 2.18 million aimed at developing executive projects for the construction of 27 kilometers of third lanes.
The work was formalized recently, and the next step will be the release of the service order, authorizing the effective start of the works.
The forecast is that the project will be completed within a year, starting from the authorization for the work.
The Importance of BR-282 for Greater Florianópolis
BR-282, one of the main highways linking Greater Florianópolis to the interior of the state, has faced significant growth in vehicle volume.
From the section of BR-101 in Palhoça to the access points to SCs 350 and 408 in Alfredo Wagner, traffic has become increasingly intense, especially during peak hours.
To cope with this growing demand, DNIT has determined the expansion of the highway’s capacity with the construction of a third lane on specific segments of the road.
Contract Signed for Project Development
The signed contract involves not only the increase in the number of lanes but also the development of basic and executive projects for the execution of the works, which will allow the bidding process for the works to take place immediately after the projects are completed.
The amount of R$ 2.18 million allocated for the development of these projects will be used to identify priority areas for the construction of the new lanes, aiming to improve traffic conditions and safety for drivers and passengers.
Expectations with the Expansion
With the execution of the work, the expectation is that traffic on BR-282 will be significantly more agile, as the highway will feature 27 kilometers of third lanes.
The priority, however, will be the implementation of 15 km of third lanes, which will receive special attention to be completed more quickly.
Currently, the highway already has 14 kilometers of third lanes, but with the new project, this number will be significantly increased.
Expansion to Improve Safety and Traffic Fluidity
The expansion of the lanes is a direct response to the increased demand for transportation and the need for more safety on federal highways.
The section that encompasses BR-282, known for its heavy traffic, especially during weekends and holidays, already shows clear signs of saturation.
The third lanes will help improve traffic fluidity, as well as provide a safer transit for drivers and pedestrians.
Improvements at Intersections and Slopes
Additionally, the project includes improvements at intersection points with other roads and access.
The areas with the steepest slopes will also be adjusted, aiming to minimize the risk of accidents and improve safety for drivers traveling on more challenging sections of the highway.
According to the notice, the improvements will be carried out in a way that better integrates BR-282 with other highways and access roads in the region, allowing for more efficient and safe connectivity.
Positive Impact on Mobility and Economy of the Region
This project, although still in its initial phase, represents a significant advance in the infrastructure of the Florianópolis region and promises to alleviate congestion on the highways, providing drivers with a smoother and safer experience.
The expansion of BR-282 is undoubtedly one of the most awaited projects in the region, with the promise of positively impacting both the local economy and the quality of life of those who depend on this road for their mobility.
The Schedule and Progress of the Works
Regarding the work schedule, DNIT assured that as soon as the service order is issued, the engineering teams will begin detailed studies for the development of executive projects.
This process of developing the basic and executive project will take about 12 months to complete, after which it will be possible to start the execution of the highway expansion works.
The Expansion of BR-282 and the Benefits for the Region
Besides the technical aspects involved, the project also represents an important step to improve the quality of transportation in the metropolitan region of Florianópolis, one of the busiest urban centers in the state of Santa Catarina.
With the expansion of BR-282, the expectation is that the region will receive a considerable boost in freight and passenger transportation, in addition to an increase in mobility options for the region’s residents.
