Defense Of President Michel Temer Wants A Witness To Be Heard, Hence The Extension Of The Inquiry
On this Monday (8), STF (Supreme Federal Court) Minister Luís Roberto Barroso decided to extend the investigation into the Ports for the 5th time, so that Mauricio Quintella Lessa, former Minister of Transportation, can testify to the federal police. This verification has been extended until October 15. This decision by the minister responds to a request made by the defense of President Michel Temer, which states that Quintella must be heard in the case.
The investigation examines whether companies operating in the Port of Santos were favored by measures that affected the port sector. Initially, the inquiries targeted not only Temer but also Rodrigo Rocha Loures, Antônio Celso Grecco, and Ricardo Conrado Mesquita. Throughout the investigation, President Temer’s friend, Joao Baptista Lima Filho, better known as Colonel Lima, and executives from Grupo Libra were included in the process.

According to Michel Temer’s lawyers, the proposal for the normative act that resulted in the issuance of the decree was submitted to the president, following guidelines from then-Minister Mauricio Quintella Lessa.
Lawyers Frederico Donati Barbosa and Brian Alves Porto argue that “the hearing of the former Minister of State for Transportation, Ports, and Civil Aviation, who signed the explanatory memorandum and sent it to the Civil House requesting changes in the port sector, can be essential and indispensable to the process of forming a judgment regarding the occurrence or non-occurrence of the facts being investigated in the course of this inquiry.”
While we wait for the scheduled date, we await the decision and statement from the Planalto Palace.
