The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) is accepting applications for two free master’s courses. Like the other free courses offered by the institution, the master’s courses are free of charge, with no tuition fees, but a registration fee of R$ 150 is required to compete for one of the opportunities.

The free Master’s Professional in Technology and Materials Engineering course at the Federal Institute is multi-campus, with classes at the Caxias do Sul, Farroupilha, and Feliz campuses, and has two lines of research: Development of Engineering Materials and Technology of Materials Transformation. This opportunity from IFRS aims to train professionals for advanced and transformative professional practice based on scientific fundamentals in Technology and Materials Engineering.

Step-by-Step Guide to Enroll in the Free Master’s Courses at IFRS
For the Professional Master’s in Technology and Materials Engineering at the Federal Institute, there are 30 vacancies available, and applications can be submitted until January 30 of this year.
The expectation is that classes will start in the second half of March. For the Professional Master’s in Basic Education, there are a total of 24 vacancies, and applications can be submitted until February 19. Classes are scheduled to start only in April.
In both free master’s courses, there are reserved spots for black individuals (both black and brown), indigenous people, and persons with disabilities (PwD). IFRS Also Offers Initial and Continuing Education Courses
The Federal Institute, in addition to these free master’s courses, also offers 6,000 vacancies in online FIC courses, under the Ministry of Tourism. Those interested must apply by February 25.
For registration, candidates must fill out the registration form with personal data and documents relating to the vacancy they wish to apply for on the institution’s website. The vacancies are for courses such as reception and booking agent in hospitality, messenger in hospitality, waiter, pantry worker, basic Spanish, and intermediate Spanish.
The candidate must express interest in the course at the time of registration, as well as in the municipality closest to their residence. Each student can apply for up to three courses. Opportunities are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first thousand applicants being selected. If more spots become available, this will be reported in the publication of the registration confirmations.
