TAESA and ISA CTEEP Energize Paraguaçu Transmission Line. Project Connecting Northeast and Southeast Regions Created Jobs and Contributes to the Flow of Renewable Energy.
The renowned electric power transmission companies TAESA and ISA CTEEP have begun operations of the Paraguaçu Electric Interconnection, located between the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais, consisting of the 500 kV Poções III – Padre Paraíso 2 transmission line, with an extension of 338 kilometers. The investment made was over R$ 680 million, generating many job opportunities for the local workforce!
The project connects to the transmission line of the Aimorés Electric Interconnection, energized in May by the same consortium, and will play an important role in distributing the renewable energy generated in the Northeast from solar and wind sources to the Southeast, the region with the highest load consumption. Together, the projects total 546 kilometers in length.
“The energization of the two lines, LT Aimorés and LT Paraguaçu, brings robustness to the National Interconnected System (SIN), balancing load and demand, with the transportation of abundant renewable energy generated in the Northeast. This is another project that aligns with the company’s business strategy, which aims to connect Brazil with safe and reliable energy,” comments Luís Alessandro Alves, director of Implementation at TAESA.

A study reveals the expansion of renewable energy procurement in Brazil and shows how companies are taking advantage of opportunities to reduce expenses, ensure energy efficiency, and strengthen strategic environmental commitments.
“We operate with the purpose of generating sustainable value. Therefore, delivering another project that contributes to the advancement of renewable energy use is fully in line with our strategy. Together, Paraguaçu and Aimorés are giant projects that will provide quality electricity to the population, especially in the Southeast region of the country,” adds Dayron Urrego, executive director of projects at ISA CTEEP.
Nearly 600 Towers Were Installed, Generating 1,320 Jobs with Significant Local Labor.
During the construction, nearly 600 towers were installed, connecting 14 municipalities in the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais, leading to the hiring of 1,320 jobs, with significant local labor.
In areas with dense vegetation, the transmission line cables were launched using drones, avoiding the cutting of native forest. A preserved area of 237 hectares was also donated to be added to the Private Natural Heritage Reserve Mata do Passarinho, the only place where the Entufado-baiano, one of the most endangered bird species on the planet, can be found. The initiative was recognized with the Hugo Werneck Award.
The companies also contributed to strengthening the quilombola communities (Paraguai and Córrego Santana) surrounding the project, with renovations, equipment donations, improvements to the water supply system, educational courses, and the construction of nurseries and workshops for seedling production.
The Paraguaçu Electric Interconnection, awarded in Lot 03 of the transmission auction held in 2016, was built by the Aliança Interligação Elétrica (AIE), a consortium involving the two companies, in an equal 50% proportion.
