The scholarships are available for students from five cities in Espírito Santo: Baixo Guandu, Colatina, Marilândia, Linhares, and Aracruz, making access to education even easier.

What Is IFES and Its Role in Environmental Education?

IFES is a public educational institution known for its excellence in technical education, undergraduate, and postgraduate studies.

Moreover, the institution has a strong involvement in projects that promote sustainability and social responsibility.

By launching courses like these in Environmental Education, IFES reinforces its commitment to the sustainable development of the region and to the training of professionals prepared to face the ecological challenges of the present and future.

According to edital nº 84/2024, these courses are aimed at educators seeking to specialize in pedagogical practices focused on the environment, with an emphasis on the reality of the Rio Doce Basin, a region facing significant environmental challenges after the Mariana disaster.

Courses and Offered Modalities

IFES offers two main courses for training in Environmental Education:

Course in Environmental Education Methodologies

With a workload of 210 hours and lasting six months, the improvement course is conducted in an EaD modality, with biweekly in-person meetings on Saturdays.

The aim of this course is to train teachers to develop and implement environmental education projects in schools. The syllabus includes topics such as:

Course of Specialization in School Environmental Education EaD for those seeking a deeper education, the specialization course offers a total of 360 hours and lasts for 12 months.

Similar to the improvement course, the classes are in the EaD format with biweekly in-person meetings.

This course focuses on the implementation of environmental projects in schools and offers a broader education in public policies and environmental citizenship.

The structure of the course is divided into two modules:

  • The first module, with 210 hours, is identical to the improvement course.
  • The second module, with 150 hours, includes subjects related to school curriculum, public policies, and environmental citizenship.

Scholarships: An Extra Help for Students

Students who enroll and are approved in these courses will be entitled to scholarships of up to R$ 200.00 per month.

For the Improvement course, the scholarship will be granted for up to six months. Meanwhile, students in the Specialization course may receive the grant for up to 12 months.

This scholarship can be an excellent opportunity to supplement income while participants qualify in a subject highly relevant to society and the environment.
