Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) Rule Tightens Penalties and Alerts for Strict Radar Enforcement
A new traffic law is causing concern among Brazilian drivers, especially those who tend to speed. Now, radar enforcement is stricter, and penalties for exceeding the speed limit have become even more severe. The fine imposed by this new measure is unforgiving, especially for those who exceed the speed limit by significant margins.
This traffic law regarding radars, in effect in the country, serves as a warning for drivers who often find themselves caught off guard while driving at high speeds without realizing the consequences. And let me tell you, the consequences are heavy! The regulation, which is part of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), brings a series of punishments for those who do not respect speed limits, and the idea is precisely to curb this dangerous practice on the roads.
What Does the New Traffic Law Say About Radars?
The rule is clear: driving above the permitted speed on highways, fast lanes, or even on busier streets can result in a heavy fine. But penalties vary depending on the severity of the infraction. Let’s get into the details:
-
OMODA & JAECOO grows in Europe in 2026 with an integrated strategy of sales, innovation, local production, and technological advancement in the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain.
-
OMODA & JAECOO expands after-sales service in Brazil with competitive maintenance, a 7-year warranty, and high availability of parts for technological SUVs.
-
OMODA & JAECOO appoints Alessandra Souza as executive marketing director in Brazil and accelerates brand expansion with a focus on innovation, networking, and hybrid portfolio.
-
Jaecoo 7 with super hybrid SHS system exceeds 1,200 km of combined range with a 1.5 turbo engine, high-density battery, and intelligent energy management.
If the speed exceeds the maximum allowed by up to 20%, the infraction is considered medium, resulting in a simple fine. It may seem like a “slap on the wrist,” but it still hurts the wallet.
Now, if you push it a bit further and exceed the limit by between 20% and 50%, things get serious. In this case, the infraction is serious, and the fine also increases, along with points on your license.
And finally, for those who really ignore the speed limit and drive more than 50% over the limit, the situation becomes quite complicated. The infraction becomes very serious, and the fine is tripled, not to mention the suspension of the right to drive.
The Impact of Distraction on the Road
In addition to penalties for speeding, the traffic law warns of another crucial point: distraction while driving. Talking too much, listening to loud music, or even using your phone can be a dangerous recipe for accidents. In these conditions, any moment of distraction can lead to a fatal mistake.
The Brazilian Traffic Code emphasizes the importance of being constantly aware of what is happening around you while driving. Accidents can be avoided if the driver maintains focus on the road and the movements of other vehicles and pedestrians. And we must not forget: a car is a powerful machine, but in the wrong hands, it can become a weapon.
There is No “Main Law” in Traffic
Many drivers wonder if there is a traffic law more important than others, but the truth is that all the rules of the CTB are equally important. They were created with a single goal: to ensure the safety of everyone sharing the streets and roads. That’s why all regulations must be respected with the same care, whether it’s wearing seat belts, adhering to speed limits, or not using a cell phone while driving.
The new traffic law regarding radars in effect in Brazil arrives with the clear goal of protecting lives and ensuring more safety on the streets and highways. Heavy fines for those who exceed the speed limit are not just a form of punishment, but a warning for all of us drivers to stay alert and respect the rules. Enforcement is stricter now, and honestly, it’s better to keep a light foot on the accelerator than to face a penalty that can cost much more, not just in money, but also in lives.
What do you think of this new traffic law regarding radars and the harsher fines? Do you agree with the stringency of the penalties, or do you think it could be different? Leave your opinion in the comments!
