Partnership Between Lightning Motorcycles And CBMM Promises To Create The Fastest Electric Motorcycle In The World With Niobium Technology

The alliance between CBMM and Lightning Motorcycles, whose headquarters is in Silicon Valley, USA, was formalized in January of this year. This partnership aims to stimulate the applications of Niobium within the mobility industry, creating a fully electric two-wheeled vehicle, which has high power and can reach speeds sufficient to surpass the current land speed record (Land Speed Record, or LSR) with a commercial motorcycle.

Through this new initiative, Lightning Motorcycles will innovate in its production of electric motorcycles, testing the application of Niobium in various vehicle components, as a way to improve its performance and mobility, and for this, it will count on the help of CBMM. The goal is to exceed the mark of 400 km/h (250 mph).

Revolution In The Electric Motorcycle Market

The Market Development Manager of CBMM, Mariana Perez de Oliveira, reported that the partnership with Lightning Motorcycles is strategic, as it will serve as a platform for a series of tests to verify how Niobium technology can help in the performance of vehicles.

Mariana also stated that in addition to the technologies already used by Lightning Motorcycles in the battery charging module of its electric motorcycle line, Niobium could offer several advantages when applied to other materials that go far beyond weight reduction of the vehicle, making this electric motorcycle undergo a true revolution in terms of mobility.

The CEO and founder of Lightning Motorcycles, Richard Hatfield, stated that weight is the enemy of the motorcycle, so it is extremely important to enhance its electric motorcycle model to improve its performance. Niobium is also applied in the steel industry, where high-strength steels are manufactured, primarily used in the automotive industry, allowing for the development of more durable components, assisting in the main role of increasing vehicle safety and that of the driver.

Application Of Niobium In The Automotive Industry

There are endless possibilities for the application of Niobium in the automotive industry, ranging from improving the performance of the braking system, reducing the chances of rapid wear, in addition to providing greater durability and efficiency of this component, to the use of materials for cathodes and anodes of batteries for vehicles, as a way to obtain unique characteristics of fast recharging and increased energy density when compared to the main technologies integrated into conventional lithium-ion batteries.
