A Brazilian Company of Waste Transformation, Lwart Environmental Solutions, Increases Refining Capacity by 50% with a Billion-Dollar Investment, Aiming to Become a Global Leader.
Lwart Environmental Solutions, a pioneer in eco-friendly solutions, is dedicating a significant investment of R$ 1 billion in Lençóis Paulista (SP). This strategic move aims to boost the capacity for re-refining used or contaminated lubricating oil from 240 million to 360 million liters per year. By around 2025, the initiative will put Lwart on the map as the second largest re-refinery globally.
Reducing Dependence on Imports
With the expansion, Lwart not only enhances the management of lubricating oil collected throughout Brazil but also boosts the domestic production of high-performance Group II base oil. Lwart’s President, Thiago Trecenti, emphasizes the project’s significance, highlighting that it symbolizes “high technology transforming waste into superior quality oil, reducing dependence on imports,” as Brazil is still not self-sufficient in this oil category.
Commitment to Sustainability
Used or contaminated lubricating oil, known as OLUC, poses a serious environmental threat when improperly disposed of. Fortunately, Brazilian legislation recognizes re-refining as the only sustainable solution for this waste, transforming it into base oil for new lubricants. Lwart’s approach is exemplary in this domain, demonstrating a circular economy in action.

Boost to the Economy and Energy Self-Sufficiency
The construction of the new unit promises to create up to 1,200 jobs, with an additional 400 direct jobs expected after completion. Furthermore, a significant portion of the investment is allocated to an innovative steam and electricity generation system powered by biomass. This initiative will enable Lwart to achieve energy self-sufficiency, ensuring a more efficient and eco-friendly operation for both plants.
In conclusion, with this billion-dollar investment, Lwart Environmental Solutions not only reaffirms its commitment to sustainability but also positions itself as a global leader in waste transformation, boosting the economy and promoting eco-friendly practices.
