The revitalization of mature fields in Campos Basin will literally be the salvation of Macaé, according to industry experts. Many global companies have already confirmed that they will participate in the next stages of auctions for exploratory blocks organized by the ANP between 2017 and 2019.
It so happens that in the Campos Basin, there are exploration fields that have been in production since the 80s and these fields are in decline due to the depletion of these wells. But Petrobras, together with other scientific bodies in the sector, discovered that it is possible to revitalize these same sources using new technologies. This is where Macaé comes into play!
Why is Macaé still the focus of companies?
Despite all the crisis and economic recession, all technological/industrial infrastructure in the oil and gas sector is still in the city. The Campos Basin is still a stage for businesses worth billions of reais and the employability potential will be approximately 25 jobs when this system is implemented.
With this new perspective, on July 31st (Monday) there will be a meeting organized by the OTC (Offshore Technology Conference), representatives from Petrobras, Macaé and companies interested in assuming shared concessions for these mature fields will discuss projections and estimates for this new cycle of prosperity in the city.
Expectations
After all agendas for this meeting are resolved, only the permission from Petrobras to share and concession the production of these reserves in mature fields with companies that already HAVE THE NECESSARY TECHNOLOGY TO REVITALIZE THEM. Despite being in production for a long time, with the application of these new techniques there will still be a lot of oil to extract in these fields that were in a negative productivity vector. When Petrobras gives the “OK”, instantly investments in the order of billions will be injected into the economy of the offshore branch, oil and gas in the Campos Basin. Just as immediate will be the opening of job vacancies, hiring and replacement of professionals dismissed by the crisis that has been affecting the sector.
Macaé is undoubtedly still very important for the economic chain in the field of fossil fuels in Rio de Janeiro, in the country and even internationally. The time is now and we hope to come with good news in the coming days.
