Contract for pre-installation of FPSO platform P-78 in Campo de Búzios with TechnipFMC marks Maersk's largest offshore solutions agreement
Expanding its presence in the Brazilian offshore market, Danish offshore vessel owner Maersk has announced yet another contract on national soil.
This is an agreement with TechnipFMC to work in Brazil on the pre-installation of the mooring system for FPSO P-78.
The platform is part of Petrobras' exploration project in Campo de Búzios, an important area of the Santos Basin. It will be the seventh to be installed at the site for the future operations of the state-owned company.
According to Maersk, the project will be completed in nearly two years, with onshore work – including engineering, procurement and project management for such assigned activities – already underway.
The pre-installation work for the FPSO platform system will involve the use of two Maersk M-class anchor handlers, as per the contract with TechnipFMC.
In addition, four additional AHTS vessels will be used to maintain the station in Campo de Búzios during the development of the project with the platform.
Financial details were not disclosed, but the Danish company described it as its "biggest solutions contract to date".
In this way, Maersk invests in expanding its operations in the Brazilian market, while standing out in the global offshore scenario.
Petrobras ordered FPSO P-78 platform in 2021 and will continue investing in the vessel with a new contract from Maersk and TechnipFMC
Maersk's new contract with TechnipFMC follows the successful completion of the significant Mero 2 contract for FPSO Sepetiba.
The agreement was reached for the pre-installation of the anchoring system in more than 2.000 meters of water depth.
This project involved the acquisition and installation of 24 torpedo anchors, and the subsequent abandonment of the polyester moorings.
The FPSO P-78, located in Campo de Búzios, was ordered by Petrobras from the Keppel shipyard, in Singapore, in May 2021.
The company intends to expand its exploration campaign in the Santos Basin over the next few years, with the support of the largest maritime logistics companies.
The FPSO has a processing capacity of 180 barrels of oil per day and 7,2 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Keppel is expected to deliver the FPSO by the end of 2024. The Keppel company said the order value is US$2,3 billion.
Now, Maersk and TechnipFMC will provide their services to guarantee the quality of the pre-installation of the Petrobras FPSO platform systems in Campo de Búzios.
