With an Investment of R$ 21 Million, Largest Solar Panel Installed in Lençóis Paulista Covers 47,000 m² and Generates 7.21 MW, Supplying 20% of the Unit’s Demand. Project Reinforces Bracell Papers’ Commitment to Innovation, Sustainability, and Environmental Goals by 2030.

Bracell Papers, one of the leading companies in the tissue sector in Brazil, has just launched the largest solar panel in Latin America, installed at its facility in Lençóis Paulista (SP). With a generation capacity of 7.21 megawatts (MW), the solar plant occupies an area of 47,000 square meters and will supply up to 20% of the energy consumed by the factory.

The project, which is part of the company’s environmental strategy called Bracell Agenda 2030, involved an investment of R$ 21 million and the installation of 10,836 solar panels in a complex and coordinated operation that lasted four months.

According to the company, 59 professionals were directly involved in the project, which included the construction of an intelligent center for monitoring and managing the generated energy.

Project Reinforces Environmental Goals and Commitment to Renewable Energy

The new solar plant is one of the most concrete actions by Bracell Papers in combating climate change.

Aligned with global goals, the company has committed to reducing carbon emissions by 75% per ton of product by 2030 and removing 25 million tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere during this period.

The use of renewable sources, such as solar energy, is considered one of the pillars of this transformation.

“The completion of this project is a milestone for the company and reaffirms our commitment to sustainable and efficient solutions for the sector. With this structure, we now have a renewable source that will meet a significant portion of the factory’s energy consumption, reaching 20% of total demand. This reinforces the importance of investing in clean energy, which not only reduces our carbon footprint but also drives innovation and environmental responsibility in our operations,” highlighted Sergio Montanha, Head of Operations at Bracell Papers.

Bracell Papers Now Operates with 100% Renewable Energy

The company emphasizes that its unit in Lençóis Paulista already exclusively uses renewable energy in its processes.

The new solar panel complements this strategy and further boosts the energy efficiency of the operation.

The adoption of clean technologies and the focus on innovation have placed Bracell Papers among the world leaders in the paper and pulp sector.

“Our unit in Lençóis Paulista reflects this commitment by bringing together cutting-edge technology for a more efficient and environmentally responsible production,” stated Eduardo M. Aron, General Manager of Bracell Papers.

Industrial Symbiosis Model Increases Efficiency and Reduces Environmental Impact

One of Bracell Papers’ differentiators is the synergy between its pulp and tissue units, located close to each other in Lençóis Paulista.

This operational integration allows for a more intelligent use of natural resources — such as raw materials, water, and energy — resulting in lower environmental impact and greater production efficiency.

This approach has also been key to the company’s rapid growth: in just one year of operation, Bracell Papers has already captured 5% of the tissue market in São Paulo, establishing itself as one of the sector’s leaders.

With a total investment of R$ 5 billion, the company is now the only one among the five largest global tissue groups with operations in Brazil.

The model adopted in Lençóis Paulista is cited by the company as an example of how to combine economic growth with socio-environmental responsibility.

Continuous Innovation Is the Path to the Future, Says Company Leadership

In addition to structural advancements, Bracell Papers remains committed to keeping innovation at the center of its strategy.

The installation of the largest solar panel in Latin America is just one step in a continuous plan for modernization and sustainability.

“Our commitment is to continue investing in innovative solutions that enhance the operational efficiency of Bracell Papers, always aligned with the best sustainability practices. We aim to strengthen our competitiveness in the sector while adopting technologies that optimize resources and reduce environmental impacts,” concluded Eduardo M. Aron.
