Investments on Electric Truck Electromobility Are Expected to Hit the Market in 2024.
This month of May, MAN Truck & Bus, along with the German Federal Ministry, presented an electric truck electromobility project aimed at automating the time trucks can travel without needing to be charged, which could lower the final freight cost. According to the institution, the vehicle is still under development and is expected to be launched during the year 2024, being one of the biggest trends for the transportation and logistics market.
According to what was reported by MAN and ABB, electric truck electromobility should be present in vehicles that have a daily range of 400 km to 800 km. Another aspect is that electric trucks will no longer need to consume as much diesel to operate, which will make them more environmentally sustainable by significantly controlling the high emissions of carbon dioxide. The institution also aims to create partnerships with the federal government to encourage zero-emission freight mobility.

Decarbonizing Freight Transport and Electric Truck Electromobility
The Federal Minister of Digital and Transport, Dr. Volker Wissing, stated in an interview with the press that it is more than necessary to reduce the use of trucks that consume diesel so that countries can meet their climate goals by the year 2030, which is the deadline set by the Paris Agreement.
Some countries, such as China, have also shown interest in pursuing this type of scientific innovation and are investing not only in transportation but also in solar electric energy.
The minister claimed that the development of electric truck electromobility must happen as quickly as possible for the automation of the economy and the achievement of environmental goals.
Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, also took a test drive in the vehicle being developed by the two partner brands. He stated that he is confident about the future electric fleets that will be available across the country. According to him, only this way will it be possible to lower freight costs after achieving low energy costs.
Vlaskamp expressed positivity by stating that there are already more than 1,400 green charging points across the country. Thus, truck drivers would not run the risk of being left without support.
