Equipped with a field hospital to assist the victims of the rains on the North Coast of São Paulo, the Multipurpose Aircraft Carrier “Atlântico” of the Brazilian Navy began operations in the state last Thursday, (02/23). The agency mobilized the largest support vessel in its fleet to reinforce security after the heavy rains on the coast of the state. The Atlântico will provide the necessary medical care to prevent further deaths caused by the tragedies.

Thus, reinforcing its commitment to national security, the Brazilian Navy mobilized the largest ship in its fleet to provide medical assistance to the victims of the situation.
The aircraft carrier Atlântico is already in the state of São Paulo, equipped with a field hospital that will provide necessary medical care on the North Coast of the region.
“We are dedicated and committed to bringing hope and solidarity to the victims of this natural disaster. The readiness of the ships, aircraft, and naval infantry units—our men and women, sailors and marines—is the best we have to offer to alleviate the suffering of these people,” emphasized the Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet, Vice Admiral Edgar Luiz Siqueira Barbosa.
The main objective of the Brazilian Navy with the arrival of the support ship Atlântico is to provide medical assistance to the victims displaced by the rains in São Paulo.
This way, hospitals will be able to focus on the treatment of more severe cases occurring in the region.
In addition to the giant “Atlântico,” flagship of the Navy, the General Cargo Landing Vessel “Guarapari” will also operate in security and support for the displaced in São Paulo.

In addition to the equipped field hospital on the Brazilian Navy’s ship, other equipment has been placed on board to reinforce security after the rains in São Paulo.

- 03 Landing Craft for Vehicles and Personnel, with a capacity to board 35 people each.
- 01 Personnel Transport Boat (20 people).
- 01 Pacific-type Operative Boat.
- 01 Rapid Response Team from the Navy’s Operational Medicine Center, consisting of 28 doctors and health military personnel from different specialties, including pediatricians.
- Medical Center of the Multipurpose Aircraft Carrier “Atlântico” with doctors in the following specialties: Orthopedist, General Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, General Practitioner, as well as Pharmacist, Dentist, Nursing Technicians, Oral Hygiene Assistant, and Laboratory Assistant (clinical pathology).

- An Operative Group with 180 Marines from the Fleet Marine Forces.
With all this infrastructure, the Brazilian Navy continues its commitment to foster security and provide medical assistance to the victims of the rains in São Paulo.
