Aracruz Will Receive Investment of R$ 2.7 Billion in Multi-Purpose Port Terminal, Boosting Local Economy and Infrastructure.
The municipality of Aracruz, in Espírito Santo, is preparing for a major investment in port infrastructure. The Imetame group, led by Etore Selvatici Cavallieri, plans to inaugurate the first phase of a multi-purpose port terminal by the end of next year. The project, valued at R$ 2.7 billion, promises to be a milestone for the region, offering a new alternative for cargo shipping in Brazil, as well as representing a significant advance for the economy of Espírito Santo.
Investment Boosts Port Infrastructure in Aracruz
The project for the Imetame port terminal, located in Aracruz, is already under construction.
When completed, it will have the capacity to handle containers, general cargo, and bulk solids and liquids, such as fuels and crude oil.

The government of Espírito Santo has already launched bids for improvements in access infrastructure to the new port terminal in Aracruz, which will have strategic importance for the State. This investment in infrastructure aims to strengthen logistics and cargo movement in the region.
Port Terminal Project Will Be Developed in Three Phases
The project will be developed in three phases. The first phase of the Aracruz port terminal, scheduled for 2025, will include the handling of general cargo, such as steel products and granite blocks.
In 2026, the terminal will begin operations in the container area, expecting to handle up to 300,000 TEUs.
The final phase of the project will be dedicated to handling bulk solids and liquids, including fuels and crude oil.
With a draft of up to 16 meters and the possibility of expansion to 23 meters in the maritime area, the terminal will have the capacity to accommodate large vessels.
This positions it as a viable alternative for ships facing difficulties in other ports in the country, such as the Port of Santos.
The Aracruz terminal will be 200 nautical miles closer to China compared to the Port of Santos, becoming an important piece in international trade.
Investment Transforms Aracruz into a Logistics Hub
The Aracruz port terminal could become one of the largest in Brazil, with facilities that will include bunker operations for fueling ships and, in the future, the capacity to load vessels powered by electricity.
The terminal’s operations are being developed under a Special Purpose Company (SPE), with negotiations ongoing for the entry of new partners, including logistics operators and shipowners.
