Introduced in Brazil in 1986, the Mercedes 1518 was designed to replace the 1517 model, offering significant improvements in power and capacity. With L versions for road services and LK versions for off-road operations, this truck served a wide range of needs in heavy cargo transport.

Equipped with an OM 352 six-cylinder inline engine and direct injection, the Mercedes 1518 was capable of delivering 170 horsepower at 2800 RPM and a torque of 47 mkgf at 2000 RPM. This configuration ensured robust performance for various applications, supported by a MB G360 5/75 transmission with five speeds and reduction in the LK 1518 model.

The braking system was air mixed, complemented by oil on all four wheels, and its gross vehicle weight (GVW) ranged from 15 to 22 tons, depending on the chassis configuration.

A Mercedes não seria o que ela é hoje se não fosse a linha AGL. Deveria lançar uma nova cabine em homenagem à antiga AGL.
