Limitations and Impressive Records
Although the MiG-25 was the fastest fighter jet in the world, its maximum speed of Mach 3.2 was limited to avoid damage to the engines. Even With This Restriction, the fighter managed to establish records, such as the one achieved in 1977 when it reached an altitude of 38,000 meters, a notable feat for a production aircraft. This performance made the MiG-25 an almost unbeatable machine in interception missions, but it had limited maneuverability for close combat (dogfights).
The Strategic Role and Aerial Surveillance
In addition to being the fastest fighter jet in the world, the MiG-25 also played an important role in strategic reconnaissance missions. With its elongated nose housing a radar capable of detecting targets up to 120 km away, the fighter could monitor enemy air activity and maintain a safe distance from defense systems. During the Cold War, the MiG-25 played a significant role in the Soviet Union’s air defense network. NATO designated it as “Foxbat”, recognizing its ability to intercept high-altitude bombers and conduct surveillance missions. Although the American SR-71 Blackbird had a superior speed, it was not a fighter jet but rather a strategic reconnaissance aircraft, which solidified the MiG-25’s position as the fastest fighter jet in the world.
Production of the MiG-25 lasted until 1984, totaling around 1,186 units. Even after the fall of the Soviet Union and with the emergence of more modern aircraft, the legacy of the MiG-25 remains alive. Its speed and altitude continue to impress, and its history still inspires enthusiasts and influence the development of supersonic jets.

Obrigado pela matéria, ainda me.lembro da edição do livro dos recordes, em que o Mig 25 foi consagrado como o caça mais rápido do mundo, tendo alcançado a impressionante velocidade de 3.395 km/h, ou mach 3.3.
É incrível como em toda reportagem de aviação soviética sempre tem um comentário negativo de algum colonizado pela propaganda americana, menosprezando a tecnologia reportada. Daí aparecem o Boeing 737 MAX, que caem como folha seca, ou 787 que perdem a porta durante o vôo, mas tudo bem. Especialistas de Teclado Made in USA
