New Hybrid Mitsubishi Outlander SUV Launching in 2025 with Impressive 300 HP and Efficient Consumption of 27 km/l, Promising to Revolutionize the Automotive Market.
Mitsubishi surprised the market in 2024 with the launch of the new Triton pickup truck, but is already preparing another big surprise for 2025: a new SUV aimed at the Brazilian market. The long-awaited new generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid is confirmed to launch in Brazil, bringing back one of the most striking configurations of the midsize SUV. Check out below the details already revealed about the new Japanese SUV and what to expect from this machine.
New Mitsubishi SUV Arrives in the Automotive Market in the First Half of 2025
This time, the new Japanese SUV will be only a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). This was actually the first plug-in hybrid car sold in Brazil, between 2014 and 2016. They are very rare cars that used a 2.0 gasoline engine and two electric motors that together generated 200 HP. The electric range of 52 km was great for the time.
Currently in its fourth generation, the Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid has been away from Brazil for two years since HPE Automotores, the official representative of the brand in the country, ceased imports of the previous model.

During last year’s Tokyo Motor Show (Japan), company executives commented that the new Mitsubishi SUV was in the plans, without giving a date for its debut. Now, it is confirmed to arrive in the automotive market in the first half of 2025.
The Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid changed with the generation shift, now built on the CMF-CD platform, developed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, which is also used by the Nissan X-Trail. It measures 4.70 meters in length, 1.86 m in width, 1.74 m in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.70 m and continues to offer five or seven-seat versions.
Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid Promises to Outshine Rivals by Achieving Up to 27.2 km/l
The new Mitsubishi SUV for the Brazilian market uses a 2.4 naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 134 horsepower and 20.6 kgfm, working with two electric motors (one in the front with 114 HP and 26 kgfm, and another at the rear axle with 134 horsepower and 19.9 kgfm) to deliver a total of 302 HP.
Mitsubishi reports an electric range of 86 km when using the new 22.7 kWh batteries. The Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid reaches 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds, while the homologated consumption is 27.2 km/l. The front electric motor is used to complement the combustion engine, reducing the need to increase RPM and, consequently, reducing fuel consumption.

There is even a series hybrid mode in which the combustion engine acts solely to generate energy to power the electric motors, which become responsible for moving the Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid. Thus, it can operate like an electric vehicle with infinite battery and enhances the precision of the 4×4 traction and the operation of its driving modes.
Interior and Exterior Design of the New Mitsubishi SUV
The design of the new model for the automotive market is inspired by the Dynamic Shield visual identity. It features a dual headlight scheme, with a thin LED line on top for daytime running lights and the main assembly right below.
The grille is painted black to create a contrast with the chrome X-shaped border. The rear still uses vertical taillights, but now they are much thinner.
The cabin is quite familiar, delivering some elements seen in other brand vehicles like the steering wheel or transmission lever. In the 2025 line, it received a new multimedia center, with a standard 12.3-inch screen, and a new sound system from Yamaha. The instrument panel is now digital, using a 12.3-inch display.
