On Tuesday afternoon, the 14th, the Tocantins Government met with representatives from Mosaic Fertilizantes to discuss investment opportunities in the region.
Carlos Humberto Lima, Secretary of Industry, Trade and Services (Sics); Jaime Café, Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock (Seagro); Jorge Couto, Director of the Secretary of Finance (Sefaz); Marco Antônio de Menezes, Executive Secretary of Tax Management of Sefaz; and Wagner Pio, Director of Taxation of Sefaz, were present. Antônio Josino Meirelles, Director of Government Relations and Sustainability; Henrique Oliveira, Director of Special Projects; and Nayana Silva, Manager of Environmental Licenses, represented the company Mosaic Fertilizantes.
The meeting aimed to address the advantages offered by the State to investors looking to establish businesses in Tocantins. The multinational company based in Tampa, Florida, operates in several countries, including Brazil, where it has six phosphate mines and one potassium mine. This company offers services for the production, import, marketing and distribution of fertilizers for various agricultural crops, animal nutrition ingredients, and specialties.
Recently, the establishment of a blending and storage unit for fertilizers in the municipality of Palmeirante, Tocantins was announced. The unit will be built within the VLI Integrated Terminal, promising to bring benefits to the region. Director Antônio Josino announced that Mosaic is embracing the challenge of offering a quality product, with social responsibility and sustainability. He highlighted that the company is the largest national producer of fertilizers and one of the largest importers, ensuring security for Brazilian producers.

However, Director Henrique de Oliveira informed that the forecast for the company’s operation start is in the first half of 2025. Secretary Jaime Café confirmed the great news that quality dry ports will be offered in Tocantins, with investments starting in May and extending over two years. This infrastructure will improve access for the entire region, generating 300 jobs in the first half of 2025. He emphasized the quality of the product and noted that it met existing demand.
