Karpowership Invests Over R$ 10 Million in Solar Plant in Itaguaí (RJ), Capable of Supplying 1,500 Homes and Generating Energy Credits for Local Businesses and Services.
Karpowership took another strategic step in Brazil’s energy transition by inaugurating, on Tuesday (15), the solar plant UFV Itaguaí II, in the municipality of Itaguaí, Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro. With an investment of over R$ 10 million, the solar energy plant has an installed capacity of 2.06 megawatts-peak (MWp) and will be able to monthly supply the equivalent of 1,500 residences. The generated energy will be injected into the Light concessionaire’s grid, within the distributed generation model.
Karpowership’s Solar Plant Marks a New Phase in Rio de Janeiro’s Energy Matrix
The solar plant is the latest milestone in Karpowership’s operations in Brazil, highlighting the company’s commitment to clean, safe, and sustainable energy solutions.
By utilizing cutting-edge technology — such as bifacial panels and high-performance inverters — the company is expanding its presence in solar energy projects across the country, promoting not only electricity generation but also positive socioeconomic and environmental impacts.

The solar energy from UFV Itaguaí II will not only serve hundreds of consumers but also directly contributes to the diversification of Rio de Janeiro’s energy matrix.
Operating within the distributed generation system, the excess produced by the plant is converted into electricity credits, already benefiting over 110,000 kWh passed on to commercial partners, such as clinics, offices, inns, and local establishments.
According to Karpowership, current generation is around 270,000 kWh per month, with projections of an increase to up to 290,000 kWh in the coming months.
The high adoption rate of the model indicates the growing interest of businesses and consumers in solar energy solutions that reduce costs and align with ESG (environmental, social, and governance) practices.
Investment in Solar Energy Generates Jobs and Training in Itaguaí
During the construction of the solar plant, Karpowership invested approximately R$ 4 million directly into the local economy.
These funds were applied in specialized services, materials acquisition, and hiring of regional workers.
Additionally, there was training of local professionals to work in the solar energy sector, expanding technical opportunities and qualifying the workforce in the region for future projects.
The company’s country manager in Brazil, Gilberto Bueno, emphasized the strategic importance of the venture.
“This plant symbolizes our investment in the future of clean energy in Brazil. We are committed to solutions that reconcile secure, economical, and environmentally responsible generation,” he stated.
Environmental and Educational Actions Strengthen Karpowership’s Legacy
The implementation of the UFV Itaguaí II solar plant includes a series of sustainable actions that reinforce Karpowership’s socio-environmental commitment.
During the project’s execution, measures such as carbon emissions compensation generated during the construction, efficient solid waste management, and reforestation of the area with the planting of native seedlings were adopted.
Furthermore, the company promoted environmental education activities aimed at the local community, such as school visits and awareness campaigns.
These practices contribute to reducing the environmental impacts of the project and strengthen the relationship between the plant and the surrounding population, highlighting Karpowership’s role as an active agent in the transition to a greener and more sustainable economy.
Partnership with the Government Reinforces Sustainable Energy Policy
The inauguration of the solar plant received support from the State Secretariat for Energy and Economy of the Sea (Seenemar), which has been encouraging decarbonization and the use of clean sources in the state.
Secretary Cássio Coelho celebrated the arrival of the new plant as a symbol of convergence between innovation, sustainability, and development.
“The inauguration of Karpowership’s solar plant in Itaguaí is another firm step in building a cleaner and more resilient energy future for Rio de Janeiro,” declared the secretary.
The institutional partnership with the state government also aims to attract new investments in solar energy and other renewable sources, strengthening the state’s role as a reference in clean generation.
Karpowership Bets on Brazil as a Platform for Clean Energy
Present in over 20 countries, Karpowership has been betting on Brazil as a strategic platform for expanding its sustainable projects.
UFV Itaguaí II represents a model of innovation with socio-environmental responsibility, combining technology, efficiency, and economic inclusion.
