The multinational EDF Renewables invested BRL 1 billion in its first venture in Paraíba and has already started to generate several job openings.

EDF Renewables, a multinational leader in renewable energy, started work on the Serra de Seridó wind power plant, its first venture in Paraíba. The estimated investment is R$ 1 billion. The total installed generation capacity of the new park will be 242 MW, which is equivalent to the consumption of 700 Brazilian families per year. The start of operations at the EDF Renewables venture, which will create several job openings, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.

Around 20% of the energy from the EDF Renewables park was sold in the 04/2019 generation auction to the regulated sector and the remainder through PPAs in the free market. It is worth mentioning that, in addition to generating several job openings in Paraíba, the Serra do Seridó park will avoid the emission of approximately 208 thousand tons of CO2 per year into the atmosphere.

According to EDF Renewables Vice President Raissa Lafranque, when the company undertakes construction and operation activities, it strives to understand, identify, address and assess the environmental and social issues specific to each project.

The development of the new wind energy park will be close to Santa Luzia and Junco do Seridó, municipalities in Paraíba with around 22 inhabitants, and will make local labor a priority.
