The multinational Vestas developed a wind energy tower about 199 meters high. The wind tower was developed to work on land and is equivalent to a 66-story building.

Vestas, a Danish company specialized in renewable energy, announced last week the development of the tallest wind power tower in the world which will be installed on land. The wind tower is 199 meters high and to get an idea of this dimension, this height is the equivalent of a building of approximately 66 floors.

Vestas structure is aimed at the European market

A Vestas states that the wind tower is particularly essential in European countries, where there is not a large area for the installation of parks, therefore, it is possible to optimize the investment in height, maximizing the production of renewable energy.

The first units of the GIANT wind energy tower, capable of producing 7.2 megawatts (MW), should be destined for Germany and Austria, with the possibility of starting operations in early 2025.

The expansion of wind energy parks has been great and in offshore plants there are already turbines positioned at much higher heights than the Vestas wind energy tower. This is the case of GE, which owns the X-Haliade, with a tower 260 meters high and blades 107 meters in diameter.

Vestas focuses on the offshore operations market

In addition to this newly developed wind tower, Vestas has also developed a project to see how the world's first crew transfer ship powered by green hydrogen can contribute to a reduction in CO2 emissions during its offshore operations.

The project was created in partnership with Windcat Workboats, owner of the largest global fleet of ships and vessels that carry out operations on the high seas. The ship is powered by bi-fuel powered by hydrogen, precisely marine diesel.

New wind farm in Bahia

Also this year, Vestas and american bread Energias Renováveis signed a supply contract for 94 X150-4,5 MW wind towers for the Novo Horizonte wind farm, located in the state of Bahia.

According to the president of Vestas in Latin America, Eduardo Ricotta, Vestas is pleased to further expand its partnership with Pan in Latin America with this wind energy project that will begin operations to generate renewable energy in Brazil.
