It was one of the surprises at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. The Volkswagen ID Buzz, a 100% electric vehicle that will have batteries located in the ground to achieve the best possible habitability, with capacities ranging from 48 kWh to 111 kWh, which will allow a maximum autonomy that will be around 550 kilometers.

The electric motor is probably the same as the ID.4, the SUV that is already sold in Europe and the United States, with options between 150 and 204 hp with rear-wheel drive, but there is also a 4×4 variant with 299 hp thanks to the presence of a second electric motor.

The single engine versions will have an output of 150 kW (204 hp) which will drive the rear wheels, and which will allow it to reach a limited top speed of 160 km/h, similar to that of the ID.4 and ID.3. In any case, Volkswagen will also at some point offer a second option with a dual engine and all-wheel drive.

Volkswagen's darling Kombi will gain a longer wheelbase compared to the T6.1 model. The new sketches also show that it will have very wide windows, including in the A-pillar area, both to improve visibility and to remember the classic Kombi T1 from 1950, which remained in production until 1975 here in Brazil.

There are also very aerodynamic wheels similar to other models in the house and a cabin with an attractive floating style roof thanks to blacked-out A-pillars, and it has sliding rear doors. In addition, it will have capacity for up to eight occupants and autonomous driving functions that would reach the market in 2022.

As we know, this style is no coincidence, and this Volkswagen ID. Buzz was born as a tribute to the mythical Kombi – transport – and will finally see the light in early 2022 as advanced in the said ID.5 presentation by Head of Sales, Marketing and After Sales Klaus Zellmer. Specifically, it will be produced at the factory in Hannover, Germany, for all the markets in which it is expected to be sold: the United States, Europe and China.

Volkswagen, the world's largest vehicle producer, stops developing and manufacturing gasoline and diesel combustion engines to focus on electric cars

The multinational Audi, belonging to the Volkswagen Group, had already announced recently that it would not develop any more combustion engines and that the automaker's focus will be on the manufacture of electric cars. Now, the boss of the German brand has confirmed the end of the development and manufacture of this type of propellant, whether gasoline or diesel.

According to information from Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of Volkswagen, in an interview with Automobilwoche, the German automaker will only continue to update and revise the current gasoline and diesel combustion engines in order to make them more efficient. The reason for this measure is that the multinational will invest heavily in the manufacture and production of electric cars.

The executive did not say how long we will consider gasoline and diesel engines in Volkswagen cars, but what everything indicates is that they should remain for the next 10 years.

In a move contrary to that of Ford, the German automaker invests in production and in a factory in SP

Pablo di Si, executive president of the multinational Volkswagen in Latin America, announced in an interview with Reuters, the commitment to launch a new investment cycle in Brazil. According to the executive, the details of the investment will be announced at the end of the year by the Group's Global CEO, Herbert Diess.

In 2021, Volkswagen returned to be the best selling brand in Brazil, replacing General Motors Co (GM.N) after many years, as in part GM's production in Brazil was more interrupted than that of Volkswagen by a shortage chips global.
