Widely known models in Brazil outperform the competition and are ahead of vehicles that are historically considered synonymous with robustness and durability.

According to the annual survey by the specialized site ISeeCars, only 8.6% of cars in the U.S. exceed 400 thousand kilometers driven, but when it comes to certain models, the resistance is even more impressive.

At the top of the ranking, the probability of reaching this mark is four times greater, with rates exceeding 36%, highlighting vehicles that have already become favorites among Brazilians. Among SUVs and pickups, Japanese brands, particularly Toyota, dominate widely, illustrating why this brand is synonymous with reliability worldwide.

Toyota Comfortably Leads the Top 5

Toyota, already known and appreciated for its reliability, leads the list with an impressive five vehicles among the most durable, according to the analysis by ISeeCars, based on over 402 million cars evaluated.

The data shows that, in the North American market, the Japanese automaker continues to set new standards for longevity, surpassing historic rivals. Models like Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequoia stand out alongside other favorites of drivers, such as 4Runner, Tacoma, and Highlander Hybrid.

See below the ranking of vehicles that most often exceed the impressive mark of 400 thousand kilometers:

  1. Toyota Tundra – 36.6%
  2. Toyota Sequoia – 36.4%
  3. Toyota 4Runner – 26.8%
  4. Toyota Tacoma – 26.7%
  5. Toyota Highlander Hybrid – 25.9%

These SUVs and pickups not only stand out in durability, but they are also the favorites among drivers seeking confidence in their choices. According to the study, these vehicles exceed the mileage of 400 thousand km significantly more often than the average of common cars.

Rivals Also Try to Stay in the Game

Although Toyota dominates the scene, other Japanese and American automakers also have their representatives.

The Honda Ridgeline, for example, appears in sixth place with a 25.8% chance of surpassing 400 thousand km. The American Chevrolet Suburban comes in right behind, occupying the seventh position, being the first U.S. automaker to feature in the ranking. See the sequence:

  1. Honda Ridgeline – 25.8%
  2. Chevrolet Suburban – 22%
  3. Toyota Avalon – 22%
  4. Lexus GX – 20.7%
  5. Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – 18.8%

Despite Chevrolet’s presence, the landscape of the durable vehicle market in the United States is still largely dominated by Japanese automakers, which occupy 20 of the top 30 positions in the overall ranking, according to ISeeCars. However, if heavy-duty vehicles were considered, the list would take a different turn.

RAM 3500: The Great Rival of Japanese Pickups

The research revealed that, when analyzing large pickups, the result would be different. The RAM 3500, an American giant, would take the lead with a 42.6% chance of reaching the 400 thousand km mark, surpassing all of Toyota’s competitors.

However, the category was separated in the study, which favored the supremacy of Japanese pickups in the light utility segment.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500, another American representative in the ranking, rounds out the top 10 with an 18.8% probability of achieving this impressive mileage.

According to the research, this dominance of Japanese automakers is a recurring theme, but the RAM 3500 could have changed the perception if it were competing in the same group.

Toyota: The Favorite Brand of Brazilians

Here in Brazil, Toyota is already seen as synonymous with trust. Models like Corolla and Hilux are common on the streets, and the ISeeCars study only reinforces this image.

What may surprise is the fact that vehicles that stand out in the American market, such as Tundra and Sequoia, are still not so popular here, although they have the same durability that Brazilians so appreciate in the brand’s models.

Furthermore, the Corolla and Civic, two of the most beloved sedans among Brazilians, also appear in the study. They ranked among the 10 most durable sedans in the survey, highlighting that, both in the U.S. and Brazil, these models remain strong in popular taste and longevity.

Toyota, with its history of reliable and robust cars, has once again proven why it is a globally respected brand. The ISeeCars study, which analyzed millions of vehicles, reinforces the dominance of the Japanese automaker, especially in the light utility and SUV segments, with models like the Tundra and Sequoia leading by a wide margin.
