A leap into the future of the oil and gas industry with the new exploratory phase in the Potiguar Basin.

In the midst of the Brazilian energy revolution, Petrobras kicks off the exploratory phase in Pitu, a promising area located in deep waters of the Potiguar Basin. Located more than 50 kilometers from the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, this region is part of the Brazilian Equatorial Margin and promises to be a milestone for the national energy sector.

A country in tune with global energy demand

By embracing the challenge of exploring the Potiguar Basin, Brazil reaffirms its commitment to being ahead in the global race for oil, natural gas and fuels. This not only meets growing demands, but also guarantees energy security and a constant supply of products. All of this comes as the country marches towards a greener, more sustainable future.

The energy transition, which is already underway, highlights the harmonious coexistence between various energy sources – from traditional oil and gas to renewable sources, such as solar and wind. The production of oil and gas in the highly competitive Brazilian market, it is vital in this energy mix.

Investing in the future of energy

The Pitu field and possible drilling in block FZA-M-59, also located on the Equatorial Margin, represent more than mere projects. They are symbols of Brazil's continued investment in energy assets. These ventures not only seek to balance declining reserves, but also solidify Brazil's position as a powerhouse in energy generation. By doing so, the country becomes a magnet for more resources, leveraging the sustainable development of the economy.

IBP, together with its associates, highlights its dedication to adopting high standards of safety and environmental responsibility. In Brazil, 3,5 million barrels of oil are produced daily, using cutting-edge technologies, ensuring safe operations and exemplary environmental and social conduct.

The active production of the Pitu area in Potiguar Basin brings with it a wave of opportunities. Investments will flow to the region, generating jobs, increasing income and boosting the local supply chain. This not only boosts the local economy, but also strengthens the role of the O&G sector in the Brazilian economy. It is worth remembering that the oil and gas it already represents around 10% of industrial GDP, and is expected to generate more than 445 thousand jobs and contribute around US$ 180 billion in the next decade.
