New factory in Ceará starts operations in Catunda, generates jobs and strengthens the footwear sector with investments and productive expansion.
The establishment of a new factory in the interior of Ceará is already beginning to directly impact the lives of the population. Located in the municipality of Catunda, the MRS Calçados unit officially started its activities after negotiations between the State Government, the city hall, and the private sector.
The announcement was celebrated on Tuesday (17), in Fortaleza, and marks the beginning of a project with the potential to generate up to 400 jobs directly. At this first moment, about 150 workers are already participating in training, starting a new economic phase in the region.

The arrival of the new factory represents a significant advancement for Catunda and reinforces the strength of the footwear sector in Ceará. The initiative is already beginning to stimulate the local economy, generating income and new opportunities for residents.

During the announcement, the governor highlighted the importance of the partnership to enable the project. “I am very happy to be here because we met some time ago, and now we have the joy of seeing people working in the factory in Catunda,” he stated.
Additionally, the feeling of achievement was also reinforced by the municipal administration. “I am here on behalf of the people of Catunda to thank once again for this partnership. The installation of the factory and the realization of this dream for the people of Catunda would not have been possible without all the support that the State Government has given to our population,” the mayor emphasized.
Jobs in Ceará change the routine of workers at the new factory
For those already involved in the new factory, the opportunity represents more than just a job: it is a life transformation. Many workers emphasize the importance of working close to home, which reduces costs and improves quality of life.
Employee Antônia Cardoso, who is in training, describes the experience with enthusiasm. “It’s a unique opportunity. We are working in the city where we live, close to home. I am learning a lot, along with several colleagues here. Everyone is very happy,” she says.
Another example is João Vitor Morais, who also recently joined the company. “It’s an opportunity that many want to have, and I am very grateful for the chance that was given to us. I applied and, after seven days, I was called. I am very happy. Here we are earning money to support our family,” he reports.
Investment in the new factory in Ceará expands jobs
To ensure the establishment of the unit, the company plans an investment of R$ 7.5 million throughout 2026. The funds will be used for the structure of the manufacturing park, purchase of equipment, and training of workers.
Additionally, the expectation is for gradual growth in both production and the number of employees. Currently, the factory produces about 750 pairs of shoes per day, but the goal is to reach up to 4,000 pairs daily, further increasing jobs in Ceará.
The company’s director also emphasized the importance of the support received. “I am really very happy with the people of Ceará and with the State Government, for all the support that has been given for the installation of the company. The expectation is very high that we will do a great job,” he stated.
The installation of the new factory highlights how the union between the public and private sectors can generate concrete results. Institutional support was essential to attract investment and ensure that the project came to fruition.
Consequently, the initiative strengthens the business environment in Ceará and creates a more favorable scenario for new enterprises. This also directly contributes to the increase of jobs in the state.
Ceará leads the footwear sector and expands jobs with the new factory
Ceará already holds a prominent national position in the footwear industry. The state is the largest producer of shoes in Brazil by volume and also leads exports in the number of pairs.
With over 65,000 workers in the sector, the activity is one of the main contributors to job generation. Thus, the arrival of each new factory further reinforces this leadership.
With positive prospects, the Catunda unit symbolizes a new moment for the interior of the state. The gradual expansion of production is expected to consolidate the municipality as an important industrial hub.
Meanwhile, workers continue in a phase of learning and adaptation. The expectation is that soon more positions will be opened, increasing the social impact of the new factory.
In this way, the investment not only strengthens the economy of Ceará, but also transforms the reality of hundreds of families through the generation of jobs and new opportunities.
