New solar energy complex in Piauí promises to generate 3.600 jobs

The company Ibtu intends to invest another R$ 2,5 billion to install the new solar energy complex called Caldeirão Grande 2. The complex will allow Piauí to remain a leader in the sector and promises to generate more than 3.500 new job opportunities

This Thursday (24th), the Governor of Piauí, Wellington Dias, met at the Karnak Palace with representatives of the State Secretariat for Mining, Petroleum and Renewable Energy and representatives of Ibtu Energia to talk about the project to implement a new Complex of Solar Energy, known as Caldeirão Grande 2, which promises to generate more than 3 jobs in the region.

Around 3.600 indirect and direct job openings will be generated over three years and the expectation is that jobs will begin to be created by the end of this year. The complex will be the largest in the solar energy sector, not only in Piauí, but in Brazil.

At each stage of the works, another 300 MW will be added. Gustavo Ribeiro, president of Ibtu, says that the solar energy company also intends to work with social projects in Piauí, investing around R$ 12 million. Currently the largest power plant is wind power which is also located in the city of Caldeirão Grande.

The forecast is that the last stage of the solar energy complex, which promises to generate several jobs, will be completed in 2024. According to Howzembergson de Brito, director of renewable energies at Seminper, the company is following a timetable for the start of works to be become viable later this year. With the Ibtu partnership, the state advances in the agenda of attracting large investments.

State governor speaks

Dias says that the use of clean and sustainable energy is a priority for Piauí and Ibtu is a company that is already present in the state's solar energy sector. With the new investment, the company will give Piauí the opportunity to reach a new milestone in this area.

The governor also claims that he is already working to obtain conditions for the release of a prior license for this month so that the solar energy company can carry out the works in November.

Ibtu, a renewable energy trading company that already has several solar energy parks installed in Piauí, intends to significantly increase the installed capacity in the state, deploying another 613 MW in the Caldeirão Grande 2 solar energy complex, which will have works started in the month November, generating several jobs.

The Piauí solar energy complex, which will be built in three stages, will receive investments of R$ 2,5 billion.
