The Nissan Kicks Play has been the subject of recent complaints made by consumers in different regions of the country. Owners of the model report problems, mainly related to the multimedia center and the electronic injection system, shortly after purchase.
The complaints emerged throughout 2025, at dealerships and consumer protection platforms, raising questions about reliability and after-sales service.
Although the car is still officially on sale, the context is one of transition, as the model approaches the end of its journey in the national market.

Nissan Kicks Play: A Known SUV, Now in a New Phase
Originally launched in Brazil in 2016, the Nissan Kicks quickly carved a space among compact SUVs.
Over almost a decade, around 400,000 units were produced at the industrial complex in Resende, Rio de Janeiro.
This solid history helped to build the model’s reputation as a balanced option for urban use.
However, in February 2025, Nissan decided to reposition the car. Thus the Nissan Kicks Play was born, which began to coexist with the new generation of the Kicks, more sophisticated and with higher prices.
The strategy was clear: to keep the old model as a more affordable alternative while the new generation targeted higher segments.
Dimensions and Space Remain Positive Points
Despite recent criticism, many owners still highlight important qualities of the Nissan Kicks Play.
The interior space is one of the main praises. The cabin comfortably accommodates up to four adults, something valued in a compact SUV.
Additionally, the 432-liter trunk remains a differentiator compared to direct competitors.

In numbers, the model measures 4.30 meters in length, 1.76 meters in width, 1.59 meters in height, and 2.62 meters in wheelbase.
These measurements help explain the good distribution of space, both for passengers and for luggage.
Known Mechanical Set and Focus on Urban Use
Under the hood, the Nissan Kicks Play maintains a mechanical set that is already quite familiar to the Brazilian public.
The engine is a 1.6 flex aspirated four-cylinder, with 16 valves and timing chain. It delivers up to 113 horsepower and 15.2 kgfm of torque.

The CVT automatic transmission, which simulates six gears, prioritizes comfort and smoothness in shifts.
Furthermore, the relatively low weight, around 1,100 kg depending on the version, contributes to adequate performance in urban traffic and fuel consumption considered moderate by many users.
On the other hand, the fuel tank of only 41 liters is seen as a limitation, especially on longer trips.
Still, this aspect tends to be treated as secondary given the vehicle’s urban proposal.
Prices and Versions Still Available
Even on the verge of being discontinued with the arrival of a new entry-level SUV from the brand, the Nissan Kicks Play is still advertised on the automaker’s official website. Currently, three versions are available:
- Active Plus – R$ 117,990
- Sense – R$ 131,590
- Advance Plus – R$ 150,190
These prices, practiced in January 2026, reinforce the model’s positioning as a more accessible alternative within Nissan’s portfolio in Brazil.
Nissan Kicks Play and the Most Common Problems Cited by Owners
Despite the positive attributes, reports of problems are increasing, according to owners of the Nissan Kicks Play.
On specialized forums and the site Reclame Aqui, consumers describe failures that directly impact the user experience, especially in new vehicles.
Among the less frequent complaints are higher-than-expected fuel consumption and improperly fitted finishing parts.
However, the majority of complaints focus on two specific points: the multimedia center and the electronic injection light.
Multimedia Center Leads Complaints
The malfunction of the multimedia center appears as the most recurring problem. Owners report difficulties in recognizing USB drives, failures in integration with navigation apps, and in more severe cases, total loss of functions, including the radio.
One consumer from Salvador, for example, stated that the problem arose a few days after the vehicle was delivered. According to the report, the center had progressive failures until it completely stopped working.
The car was taken to the dealership, which diagnosed the need to replace the equipment. Even so, the customer was waiting for a solution weeks after the complaint was opened.
“I bought a Kicks Play, received it on 09/10/2025. Unfortunately, about 10 days later, the multimedia center started to show problems, it didn’t recognize USB drives, didn’t recognize Maps, then it evolved to not even the radio working. I took the car to the dealership on 09/27/2025 and they stated that the center had a malfunction and needed to be replaced. Today, with 38 days gone, nothing, when I question the dealership, the response is that they understand my dissatisfaction but they don’t have a part to replace, plus the multimedia center is of poor quality, with super basic functions. I use the car for work, not to mention the embarrassment when I have to take someone, they ask to turn on the sound and I say it’s broken.”
These episodes reinforce the perception of frustration, especially because these are new vehicles, still within the warranty period.

Electronic Injection Light Concerns Owners
Another point that stands out in the reports is the recurring illumination of the electronic injection light on the dashboard. In several cases, the warning appears with only a few kilometers driven, causing owners to return repeatedly to dealerships.
A customer from the interior of São Paulo described a sequence of visits to the workshop in less than two months of use.
According to her, the problem was initially attributed to the fuel, even with refueling done at trusted stations.
Subsequently, diagnoses pointed to a failure related to the canister, a component of the emissions control system.
Despite attempts to repair, the warning light returned on several occasions, causing emotional strain and insecurity regarding the vehicle’s reliability.
Nissan’s Position Regarding Complaints
In response to the complaints, Nissan has officially stated that it is monitoring the cases along with the responsible dealerships.
In its responses, the automaker often emphasizes the importance of complying with the maintenance plan outlined in the Warranty Manual.
The company highlights that delays in revisions, maintenance outside the authorized network, or failure to meet deadlines may compromise warranty coverage.
Additionally, it reminds that there is a tolerance of up to 1,000 km or 30 days for periodic maintenance, which should occur every 10,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first.
For now, many consumers are still awaiting a definitive solution for the reported issues.
A Warning for Those Considering Buying a Nissan Kicks Play
The Nissan Kicks Play remains an SUV with a significant history in the Brazilian market, good interior space, and a well-known mechanical set.
However, the problems, according to the owners, raise a red flag for those considering buying the model, especially at this moment of transition in the lineup.
Thus, before closing a deal, experts recommend researching the reputation of the dealership, understanding warranty conditions, and, if possible, following recent reports from owners. This way, the consumer can make a more informed decision aligned with their expectations.

Carro excelente!!
